Not sure why nobody is talking about this...but it is an amazing turn of events. Does the Dem party seriously think they can create MORE hatred of Rush with their inane antics? Quite the opposite I think. This is really going to backfire on the Dems...BIG time. Anybody who follows politics can see right through this. And yes, some of those hired hands for the media ARE phony soldiers. Trust me on this, conservative fence sitters just got the kick in the pants they needed.

Rush was clearly talking about "one" phony soldier.

The screwball far-left Dems hate Rush so they are attacking him and saying his comment applied to "all" soldiers.

Why is it that many Democrats only complain and attack any Republican idea, and do not voice their own ideas on the subject? I'm tired of the "divide the people" mentality which is rampart in Washington these days.

I'm amazed that 50% of all the problems in the US are due to rich people, and we can cure all of those problems by taxing the rich. Pure stupidity.:eek:

CALLER: I have a retort to Mike in Chicago, because I am serving in the American military, in the Army. I've been serving for 14 years, very proudly.

CALLER: I'm one of the few that joined the Army to serve my country, I'm proud to say, not for the money or anything like that. What I would like to retort to is that, what these people don't understand, is if we pull out of Iraq right now, which is not possible because of all the stuff that's over there, it would take us at least a year to pull everything back out of Iraq, then Iraq itself would collapse and we'd have to go right back over there within a year or so.

RUSH: There's a lot more than that that they don't understand. The next guy that calls here I'm going to ask them, "What is the imperative of pulling out? What's in it for the United States to pull out?" I don't think they have an answer for that other than, "When's he going to bring the troops home? Keep the troops safe," whatever.

CALLER: Yeah.

RUSH: It's not possible intellectually to follow these people.

CALLER: No, it's not. And what's really funny is they never talk to real soldiers. They pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and spout to the media.

RUSH: The phony soldiers.

CALLER: Phony soldiers. If you talk to any real soldier and they're proud to serve, they want to be over in Iraq, they understand their sacrifice and they're willing to sacrifice for the country.

When taken in context Rush was talking about the Jesse Macbeth’s of the world. Of course Media Matters twisted what he said. Any one who listens to what Media Matters has to say and beleives it has a strong suspension of belief.

Media Matters is a Hillary front organization.

It looks like he could have either been talking about Jesse Macbeth types, or any soldier who disagrees with him and his caller, but he also seems to lump his previous caller in there too. Not all 'real' soldiers think we should be in Iraq.

Personally, I really could care less. It's Limbaughs job to smear, propagandise, lampoon, and so on. Nobody makes any noise when he calls people things like Breck Girl (I do get a good chuckle out of some of his Edwards parodies) or Mad Bomber. It is also Move-Ons job to do exactly the same thing. Edwards, Clark, and Petraeus are all fair game.

However, the GOP should not be worried about condemning Move On, and the DNC should not be worried about condemning Limbaugh. They have better things to do.

I could not disagree with you more - GOP should be worried about condemning Move On and Media Matters - they are fronts for democrats, they are going to be hammering on Republicans from now until possibly Hillary is elected next year.

If Democrats want to support the phony troops, it is their right to do so. But when they try to interfere with Limbaugh's livelihood, that amounts to an effort at creating a McCarthy-style blacklist.

The Fox report says that 41 Democratic senators signed this letter, which means that 9 or 10 did not (depending on how you count Joe Lieberman). Will they speak out against their colleagues' intimidation efforts? And where are the Republicans in all this? With the Democratic Party increasingly in thrall to hate groups like MoveOn and Media Matters, America urgently needs politicians of either party with the courage to take a stand for decency.

It is not ANY soldier that dissagrees, its the "phony" ones, the MacBeths. It could not be clearer.

Right on, Bomelia - besides, Rush was only implying that he agreed with the caller and it's a fact that at least one phony soldier (McBeth) and probably others have lied about their experience. I'd imagine that a lot of real soldiers don't like it in Iraq and don't necessarily agree with W, but at the end of the day they are soldiers and there is a job to be done - no one promised peace throughout their service and a lot of them are probably thrilled to serve in the war.

This is such a nonissue, it's pathetic.

It could absolutely be clearer! He could have said 'phony soldiers like MacBeth'.

There are plenty of real soldiers who feel insulted by what Limbaugh said. There are also plenty who do not. Limbaugh did respond by insulting other soldiers who are in that first group, and I think that was just not a classy response. That seems to be typical Limbaugh response - call people names when they disagree with him.

Limbaugh loves it though - all kinds of free publicity. He will keep fighting it and continue smearing everyone who disagrees with him and milk it for as long as he can.

Either way, Congress has no business getting involved in either the Move On ad or Limbaughs radio program.

It amazes me to think so many people think that a drug addict's word is gospel. If it was any other junkie most people would push him off the sidewalk to get by. I am wondering if he took responsibility for his deeds, or did he snitch someone off to lessen his punishment? I think what Rush says needs to be filtered, and some of what he says needs to go into the garbage. He is part showman too.

You are liberally insane. The controversy arose when a caller, "Mike in Olympia," who identified himself as an Iraq war veteran, complained Democrats and journalists "never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media."

"The phony soldiers," Mr. Limbaugh responded. After the caller hung up, Rush elaborated: "Here is a morning update that we did recently, talking about fake soldiers. This is a story of who the left props up as heroes. They have their celebrities and one of them was Army Ranger Jesse Macbeth..."

The left wing group Media Matters passed out an edited transcript of the conversation that omitted all references to Mr. Macbeth, to bolster their claim that Mr. Limbaugh had been referring to all antiwar veterans.

BTW - it seems particularly reckless for Sen. Harkin to have taken part in the smear, because in 1991 he had been caught embellishing his own military record. He claimed he was a Naval aviator who had flown combat missions in Vietnam. Mr. Harkin was indeed a Navy pilot, but he never got near the war zone.

This whole "effort" is to compensate for the embarrassment Democrats suffered over the MoveOn.org ad attacking the patriotism of Gen. David Petraeus.

I wonder if Harry Reid and the rest of the anti-American crowd will also condemn the Code Pink loons for insulting our servicemen:

Mr CDC is exactly correct in that this is just a crude, desperate attempt on the part of the morally bankrupt Harry Reid and his DNC cronies to try to overshadow their support for the despicable MoveOn attack on a true American hero.

Actually, I've read a real insightful statement about Harkin, which said that he wasn't so much a phony soldier (despite having been exposed for deliberately lying about his service record for years) as he is a phony senator.
