Sounds like a very bad accident!

Ron, is that near you? I don't know that much about CA.

Tru,

No it quite a ways south of me. I have been there several times but it was when I was able to work and traveling a lot. I just saw on the news that they may have the South bound lanes of I-5 closed tomorrow. Seems the flames got so hot inside the tunnel they caused the concrete to sort of explode and big chunks of it have came down. That was supposed to be a truck only tunnel, but cars use it too. That is one traffic jam I would not want to be caught in.

Ron

Perfect choke point. 14 comes together with 5 right there, 210 and 405 join up just down the road.

Not really tunnels as folks back east might think of them...more like long underpasses.

So, Jamo...this is close to you?

They had pictures on CNN and it looked real bad.

I used the 'truckers route' constantly heading south for the 210, aids in merging for the 210 east with 14 connecting,it can be a hairy ride. The problem with this interchange is that the three roads all stack on top of each other and cross under both south bound and north bound lanes. This section is the only thorough fair way out of or into Southern California. It truly is the middle of an hour glass connection. Lancaster or Santa Barbara are the next two options.

It is near 2.5 hours south of Fresno. 45 min south of Bakersfield. 5 min south of Magic Mountain.

I think this should show it.

The S truckers route crosses both N&S lanes twice I think, to merge them again on the right side just before the 210 exit.

and here is where the south bound ends, just before the 210.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...,0.014591&z=16

you can see the road to the lower left of the screen and follow it back up to the previous link as the 14 joins the G.

JT nailed it. A few hours south of us, but our main root in when business calls.

Damn good asscuse to take 33...muy funo.

I imagine they're peeling folks off on the 126 and bringing em back in on the 118 or 101.
