Thumbs down This Guy Is Stupid

After finding all of that stuff in his house he still pleads NOT GUILTY. And will most likely get off on some technicality.

Default It's amazing how far parents go for kids

Ron 61 Welcome to NY. It's amazing how far parents go to save there kids. This guy lost his job, going to jail, legal fees for a lawyer, could destory his family life for a credit card. What happened to putting a limit on the card DAD?Another child with the I want problem and daddy will PAY. TOO much Paris Hilton and Richie crap in the papers.Rick L.

Rick,

We have the same type problems here and I still think it is stupid. Some of those documents are not replaceable. We have people being foreclosed on every day because of their credit card debts. I can't believe how much some of them have ran up. I don't even understand with their income how they could have gotten approved for such high levels on several cards. I have one credit card and use it all the time as I hate writing checks. I then write one check and pay it off each month.

He admitted to the thefts, had all kinds of items in his home, and then he pleaded NOT GUILTY. Can someone explain how this could happen?

Admit and plea are two different things.

Just because he said he took them doesn't mean he is guilty...in his mind.

Ask Jamo, he is an authority.

I feel bad for the people on Ebay who bought the stuff. It was stolen property and will have to be returned. They will probably not get back the money they paid for the items.
I don't usually buy anything very expensive on Ebay as I am just not the trusting sort.

As a bit of a hobbyist history nut - this whole thing just does not sit well with me.

Steve,

The bad thing is if they can't recover the documents they can't be replaced. This to me was worse than stealing from an insurance company. ( Meant to be a joke for those who may not understand it )

Where's Ben Gates ? He should be able to round up all the missing items It does indeed suck for those who were duped on eBay Then there are those who probably should have known that such items would not normally be in private hands to be offered for sale, but bought them anyway

It's MHO this person shows another reason for chlorine in the gene pool

Doug,
One of the big auction houses had one of the handful of Magna Chartas up for auction within the last year or two. Not everything of historical interest in in the hands of museums or governments.

Ron,
I'm sure they will get the majority of it back. Ebay has all kinds of records that list all the stuff that happens. There may be one or two instances where something may have been lost/destroyed, or someone just says it is.

VRM,
I was probably a little to concise. I was meaning some of the people who have the means to spend millions on art, documents, cars and artifacts etc. They should either have the knowledge, or the resources, to determine if a particular item should be in an auction or for sale. It's those who know, or suspect, that the item is or could be shady but buy it anyway and say nothing. Basically the old age "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is" applies no matter how rare and expensive an item is.

Once again it is about ME ME ME. I have to have this, but one small problem. It is out of my means of support, so just take it. It starts at the top, and goes all the way down to the crack dealer on the corner. What ever happened to earning what you want?

I2F - it seems to have become "someone owes me what I want"

Doug,

That doesn't work for me. I want everything I see lately and no one gives anything to me. I have to pay for it.

Ron,

That's the old fashioned way...paying for it! Unfortunatley unlike 501 Levi's it seems to be going out of style................

Doug,
They were not ultra valuable things that were up for auction. The David Crockett Almanac went for a little over 3K. Most were not things that looked like they had a high degree of provenance associated with them.

And yep - this country is living well beyond it's means.

David,

Thanks. Now I have the excuse I needed to get let loose if I am caught. I was told how to do it by another person. It is his fault because he told me the wrong way.

Default Not in NYC

David GAGNARD David not sure how good the cops are in LA. But you wear a ski mask in NYcity and they see you, you get arrested. If you flinch you get 50 bullets coming after you. NYcity cops are not good shots and work on the hosing down the area deal first. They also shoot there own.. This is why IMO the police should be Military trained and service duty tested. 26 weeks of schooling is no where near enought for a young person to get a gun with 14 rounds and badge. Then sent out on the streets in some places a war zone and protect and serve the local people. On top of this the BAD guys still have more fire power. Thank god none of them have gotten a 50 caliper BMG. Rick L.
