Yeah, I'm not buying it.

He said that Samuel Alito was too conservative, and yet he says "I intend to nominate judges who have proven themselves worthy of our trust that they take as their sole responsibility the enforcement of laws made by the people's elected representatives, judges of the character and quality of Justices Roberts and Alito, judges who can be relied upon to respect the values of the people whose rights, laws and property they are sworn to defend." What the hell?

He was part of the idiotic Gang of 14.

Heard of McCain-Feingold? Good ol' John was responsible for abridging Free Speech by co-sponsoring this bill.

Let's not forget the McCain was one of the Keating Five.

And Iraq? He supports the 50-year troop presence - the "South Korea" model. Until he doesn't; on the Charlie Rose show, he said a "Korea-like presence is not an “analogy” he would use for Iraq."

McCain supported the Law of the Sea convention ... until he opposed it.

McCain co-sponsored the idiotic and incompetently named "Dream Act" ... nd now opposes it.

McCain said that Rumsfield's Iraq policy was "Mission accomplished" ... until he said he's been "the greatest critic of Rumsfield's failed Iraq policy."

McCain supported the Confederate Flag ("Personally, I see the flag as a symbol of heritage.") until he didn't ("the Confederate flag should be taken down").

He torpedoed the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth as "dishonest and dishonorable" when they stood up and pointed out Kerry's lies.

He wants to make millions of illegal aliens citizens, and sponsored the McCain-Kennedy bill.

He says that we need to have a special visa class for immigrants who are willing to do the job that Americans are not. I say that's a load of cr@p; for every American job, there's an American willing to do it. We just need to get rid of the unions.

McCain is nothing more than a flip-flopping democrat like Kerry who happened to mark the box Republican ... obviously by accident.

McCain's over-use of the the words "war hero" make the words sound as hollow as Kerry's use did. In my day - and my parent's day - War Hero meant something. McCain tarnishes those words every time he uses them.

I would have chosen - and did vote for - Romney.

Your pal,
Meat.

Meat, watched Mick's suspension speech yesterday, I, like most, were VERY impressed!. If he had delivered that speech earlier, things might be different?. I also watched John's, from the response he got, He knows what direction the conservatives expect.

Both have terrorism at the top of their list, and that's good.

HI Cobra 02-08-2008 11:19 AM

I think Mitt will be back four years from now after we are picking up the
pieces of whatever is left from whoever gets in now. It will be interesting.

BeanCounter 02-10-2008 04:45 PM

Perry,

Fighting terrorism is great as long as you close the back door where they can get in first. Immigration is first followed closely by the Fight Against Terrorism.

427 S/O 02-11-2008 03:48 AM

He made the statement last week the fence will be completed, it should have been completed long before now!!. I'm faulting all of them up there for dragging their feet.

427 S/O 02-11-2008 03:56 AM

Ya' know!, the most recient time America really came together, and voiced 'strong' opposition, was after the introduction of the 'immigration bill'. Both sides raised he** with their senators and congressmen which 'stopped' it cold. I wish we all would stay that involved with 'our' government....all of the time..

Mike,
Is the something about the difference between 'can' and 'will' that you don't understand?

I have no illusions about Ron Paul winning anything. Ron Paul can win, but he won't because people think he can't win...:JEKYLHYDE

Maybe if you really want to make a bet you should actually find something where the odds are a bit more even - no wait - you were too chicken to do so before, why would that change now.

John McCain Praises Pro-illegal Protests

Sen. John McCain is praising the recent wave of pro-illegal immigration demonstrations, saying that if the protesters hang tough they will succeed in forcing Congress to liberalize immigration laws.

"If such demonstrations continue, I think we will have a bill for the President to sign soon," the Arizona Republican told a New York City gathering on Friday sponsored by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform.

"The more debate, the more demonstrations, the more likely we will prevail," McCain added, in quotes picked up by the New York Daily News.

The Irish group backs the McCain-Kennedy bill that would allow illegal aliens already in the U.S. to stay and work toward citizenship.

McCain offered the comments as the city girded for its first major pro-illegal rally - a march across the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday that ended in lower Manhattan.

Despite the Arizona Republican's support, marchers on Saturday sounded decidedly anti-GOP.

"We are fed up," said Humberto Suarezmotta, a former professor from Colombia, told the News.

"Since the Mayflower, immigrants have been coming here and now we have Republicans who are against minorities."

"The people united will never be defeated!" other demonstrators chanted in Spanish. "We're not going, but Bush can leave!"

NewsMax
_______

I've now joined the crowd of disaffected conservatives...how can any politician, even a liberal one, praise a protest of illegal immigrants. McCain is clueless.

McCain=Great Guy does not mean = Great Conservative Leader (Like GW).

The conservatives (see CPAC) STILL loves Bush, that means the BASE loves Bush. So you are not of the BASE. So you can call Bush whatever you want.

With McCain at the top of the ticket, the race is over. Its in the Dem's laps.

Sooooo, get ready for higher taxes (for the rich, those folks making 100k or more), more friggin social programs, less taxes for the "poor" (ie those folks making less than 60K a year), slashed military, and a surrender to terror. Oh, expect the partial birth abortion ban to be lifted also.

Mike

Ron61 02-12-2008 10:09 AM

:(

Regardless of who wins we won't have much real leadership. And don't forget that whoever becomes president can't do anything by themselves. It is the dam Congress that needs to be kicked out and get rid of the Good Old Boys Group. I still think term limits should apply to Congressmen as well as Presidents.

So then conservative means:

Spend money like crazy, but don't collect enough taxes to pay for it.
Support the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill that allows people here illegally to pay a fine and then apply for the guest worker program.
Ignore the advice of generals before starting a war.

Oh, and Bush declared McCain 'a true conservative'.

I see my Kraft stock is up today - I guess I should be thanking you for continuing to drink the Kool-Aid.

Steve

bomelia 02-12-2008 12:27 PM

Bush is about as conservative as we are gonna get. There are no Reagans out there and Ron Paul is a Certified Nut Case. I hated the prescription thing and completely despise the immigration thing. But I can't fault much beyond that. Folks like Steve wanna define Bush that way. Fine.

I define Bush as one who takes seriously his oath to defend this country. And he has done a good job. We are about to find out just HOW good he has been doing. Not a single candidate, Republican or Dem has what Bush has. McCain is an egotistical *#$%@ who will accomplish nothing conservative. But, if he is all we got, then that is that. I will vote with noseplugs on.

Steve, you've been drinking Kool-Aide before & ever since you wondered about the trade in Beagle skins in the South.

Soooo, if Hillary wins, who decorates the White House?

Roscoe 02-12-2008 12:34 PM

I've been staying out of this dogfight but I have to agree with Bomelia. If McCain is all we have then we have to go for it. I mean, what's the alternative???? Look, even Reagan signed off on the amnesty bill back in the 80's. Probably the only thing he did wrong.

McCain worries me but I'll have to go with him.

Roscoe

VRM 02-12-2008 03:04 PM

Seriously Mike,
Why do you think Ron Paul is a nut case?

Steve

Smokingcobra2 02-12-2008 03:30 PM

It's time to send the Republican Party a message. I'm a conservative but i have had it with McCain. I will vote for Obama - a change is needed and neither McCain or Clinton can bring it. They both have had years to do anything- anything at all the WE THE PEOPLE want and they still do as they please. They meet to discuss steriods in sports but can't fix Medicare or Social security. they have the best retirement and medical programs anyone could ask for, but for us slobs -- screw us!!!
Maybe we need another revolt against our government- and TERM LIMITS!!
