As for Ron Paul, love most of his idea's but those in power will never let any of his ideas happen. The lawyers, accounts etc would go broke with no IRS, never mind the FBI and other great ideas.
We will be free of any attacks from our enemy's until after Obama or Hillary wins- then watch out. they know McCain is a tuff guy and would win if they hit us now.

I dunno. But when I listen to Paul, all I can see is a red tie Kucinnich.

Maybe its because many things he espouses are nutty?

Look, Paul is a libertarian with a red tie. I like some libertarian points, but even Neal Boortz can take it too far. Just something about libertarians that winds my clock.

OK? So, he is a nut case in my book.

Mike

Roscoe, et al. call me Mike. Please?

427 S/O 02-13-2008 04:04 AM

Steve, Ron Paul's ideas are great, but his delivery is just terrible!.

bomelia 02-13-2008 08:09 AM

Like immediate withdrawal from Iraq? Thats a great idea? He is a NUT!

Mike

427 S/O 02-13-2008 08:26 AM

Sorry, I should have been more precise, some of his idea's a great.

VRM 02-13-2008 09:32 AM

Perry,
I would agree with your comment. Paul is not the best public speaker - and he sometimes sounds shrill.

I would also suggest that both you and Mike read the Rand report done for the DoD. It addresses many issues regarding Iraq, and our actions in the ME.

Even the American Conservative magazine endorsed Paul as being the only true conservative. Of course, they also do not favour Bush very much. Big differences between Classical-Conservatives and Neo-Conservatives I guess. I would much rather vote for a Classical Conservative, but other than Ron Paul, none seem to be running.

That is true.

Ron Paul is a whiney, goofy looking little phuk who has brain freezes (we got out of Korea?). When he speaks, he does a disservice to otherwise logical and rational positions.

Mike, I think you could spot Steve a few hundred delegates...

So would you rather vote for a guy who get 80% for being right on the issues, and 10% for presenting them, or would you rather go for a guy who hits 20% on the issues, but makes you feel good about getting screwed?

imagine2frolic 02-13-2008 02:47 PM

SO,

We are voting on politicians for their appeal, we have the big screen TVs, at least most do...not I, WHEN ARE THEY COMING FOR THE BOOKS?

It is coming down once again to the lesser of 2 evils.

The latter...more likely to get at least a reach around.

bomelia 02-13-2008 08:28 PM

OK! Steve, I'll spot you 300 delegates. Ready to play?

Personally, I'll vote for the reach around. I need to get something worthwhile out of this process.

This forum interests me at a political level, in that my perception is that most Cobra owners appear to be conservative, right wing (redundant!) Republicans. Wonder why that is?

Personally, if Hillary wins for the Democrats I will vote for McCain, otherwise I will vote for Obama. I am one of the few on this forum who thought that a) Bill Clinton was probably the most intellectually gifted president we ever had and b) as a former Brit, I don't give a f*** who he was screwing...what the hell difference does THAT make to a hill of beans????? European politics has, for a long time, focussed on POLITICS, not on sexual pecadilloes (if I was the most powerful man in the world, the odd White House BJ would be a wonderful release of pressure)...but, Hillary is a WHOLE other matter...way too divisive :).

I think Obama is the ONLY one that can a) bring this country back together and b) restore our international prestige and credibility after 8 years of ABSOLUTE F***ING DEBACLE!!!!!

Obama is a blank slate with no history. I feel VERY uncomfortable voting for somebody with NO guideposts about his true beliefs except the stump speeches. McCain is an empty shirt to me...too liberal. BUT between the 2 I have to go McCain because I know his history and at least he has done enough to prove that he will stand up for what he thinks is right and not be a lapdog to whatever polling numbers are that day. In reality, I think the NUMBER ONE thing the next President will do is replace 3-4 justices on the Supreme Court. THAT is where Obama scares me! I have HAD it with the far left zealots in the court system and want to see judges appointed that INTERPRET the law as opposed to MAKE it under the table.

GlynMeek 02-13-2008 08:53 PM

You REALLY think 3-4 supreme court justices are going to die/resign over the next 4 years???????? Unlikely!

bomelia 02-13-2008 08:53 PM

I dunno. I got this sick picture in my head of McCain and Teddy doin the dirty. Never could imagine Bush doing that.

G, iffin you are buying, I'm drinkin. ;)

Mike
