It has been 60 years since WW II and we are still in Germany and Japan.
The "100 years in Iraq" doesn't scare me. I don't see us over there in the capacity we are now to last that much longer. I'll find out a little more clearly how things are really going over there shortly when my son arrives. Other than that I have seen and heard many good things about real progress being made and responsibilities being turned over that don't seem to make it in the mainstream news. Their silence lately has been deafening. Hillary and Obama have really done very little in their political lives except make a lot of promises lately. McCain hasn't done a whole lot either but has been around longer and has a much better understanding of military defense. I am looking forward to seeing just how nasty Hillary and Obama get with each other in their quest for the brass ring. Should be interesting. |
GW said it would be a long war and I believe it. As Scott S indicated in another thread:
The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. More reason to........ Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Sun-tzu Chinese general & military strategist (~400 BC) |
Excaliber - "I'll need another six months or so to work that out."
WOW, Excaliber - are you generally a little slow? Obama represents everything gone wrong with this nation since the Great Society and folks need to see just what that truly means: Anti-White Anti-West Anti-American Bastardized Christianity Anti-Semitic Collectivism Gun Grabbing in sum total , the deconstruction of our culture to suit them who loathe us and contribute less disproportionately it's not complicated. those of you unwiulling to get dirty can get out of the way, we'll fight for ya. Obama's radicalism will repel the mushy middle but only if we keep them informed....meanwhile Grandpa John ..the war hero moderate with the stern sensibility to guide us thru perilous times will prevail at the polls, I'm taking bets |
The above post is a classic example of why it's impossible to have intelligent dailog with an idiot who shoots from the lip. :D

Anyone taking bets on how much longer this thread lasts? ;) Ron :) |
I never got my popcorn

Let's review.....BO's church is busy cleaning it's site, under About Us.......http://web.archive.org/web/200604112....org/about.htm - including the Black Values System, and here's http://www.tucc.org/about.htm the current About Us page that excludes the Black Values System. The section that was removed: Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts: 1. Commitment to God 2. Commitment to the Black Community 3. Commitment to the Black Family 4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education 5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence 6. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic 7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect 8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness” 9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community 10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions 11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System 12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System. And, a PDF file continues to be posted on the site, for now - the text..... THE BLACK VALUE SYSTEM Statement of Purpose We honor Dr. Manford Byrd, our brother in Christ, because of the exemplary manner in which he has thrice withstood the ravage of being denied his earned ascension to the number one position in the Chicago School System. His dedication to the pursuit of excellence despite these systemic denials has inspired the congregation of Trinity United Church of Christ. We have prayerfully called the wisdom of all past generations of suffering Blacks for guidance in fashioning an instrument of Black self-determination, the Black Value System. And we shall, beginning in 1982, institute an annual Black Value System-Educational Scholarship in the name of Dr. Byrd. This year, 1981, however, we recognize Dr. Byrd as the first recipient of the Dr. Manford Byrd Award which will be given annually to the man or woman who best exemplifies the Black Value System. The Black Value System These Black Ethics must be taught and exampled in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect the following concepts: Commitment of God “The God of our weary years” will give us the strength to give up prayerful passivism and become Black Christian Activist, soldiers for Black freedom and the dignity of all humankind. Commitment to the Black Community The highest level of achievement for any Black person must be a contribution of substance to the strength and continuity of the Black of the Black Community. Commitment to the Black Family The Black family circle must generate strength, stability, and love despite the uncertainty of externals, because these characteristics are required if the developing person is to withstand warping by our racist competitive society. Those Blacks who are blessed with membership in a strong family unit must reach out and expand that blessing to the less fortunate, especially to the children. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education We must forswear anti-intellectualism. Continued survival demands that each Black Person be developed to the utmost of his/her mental potential despite the inadequacies of the formal education process. “Real education” fosters understanding of ourselves as well as every aspect of our environment. Also it develops within us the ability to fashion concepts and tools for better utilization of our resources, and more effective solutions to our problems. Since the majority of Blacks have been denied such learning, Black Education must include elements that provide high school graduates with marketable skills, a trade or qualifications for apprenticeships, or proper preparation for college. Basic education for all Blacks should include Mathematics, Science, Logic, General Semantics, Participative Politics, Economics and Finance, and the Care and Nurture of Black minds. To the extent that we individually reach for, even strain for excellence, we increase, geometrically, the value and resourcefulness of the Black Community. We must recognize the relativity of one’s best: this year’s best can be bettered next year. Such is the language of growth and development. We must seek to excel in every endeavor. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic “It is becoming harder to find qualified people to work in Chicago” Whether this is true or not, it represents one of the many reasons given by businesses and industries for deserting the Chicago area. We must realize that a location with good facilities, adequate transportation and reputation for producing skilled workers will attract industry. We are in competition with other cities, states, and nations for jobs. High productivity must be a goal of the Black workforce. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect To accomplish anything worthwhile requires self-discipline. We must be a community of self-disciplined persons, if we are to actualize and utilize our own human resources instead of perpetually submitting to exploitation by others. Self discipline coupled with a respect for self, will enable each of us to be an instrument of Black Progress, and a model for Black Youth. Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness” Classic methodology on control of captives teaches that captors must keep the captive ignorant educationally, but trained sufficiently well to serve the system. Also, the captors must be able to identify the “talented tenth” of those subjugated, especially those who show promise of providing the kind of leadership that might threaten the captor’s control. Those so identified as separated from the rest of the people by: Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill off one another. Placing them in concentration camps, and/or structuring an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons. Seducing them into a socioeconomic class system which while training them to earn more dollars, hypnotizes them into believing they are better than others and teaches them to think in terms of “we” and “they” instead of “us”. So, while it is permissible to chase “middle-incomeness” with all our might, we must avoid the third separation method-the psychological entrapment of Black “middleclassness”: If we avoid the snare, we will also diminish our “voluntary” contributions to methods A and B. And more importantly, Black people no longer will be deprived of their birthright, the leadership, resourcefulness, and example of their own talented persons. Pledge to Make the Fruits of All Developing and Acquired Skills Available to the Black community Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions. Pledge Allegiance to all Black Leadership Who Espouse and Embrace The Black Value System. Personal Commitment to Embracement of the Black Value System - to Measure the Worth and Validity of All Activity in Terms of Positive Contributions to the General Welfare of the Black Community and the Advancement of Black People towards Freedom. _____ I'm curious about the "talented tenth" - "Killing them off directly, and/or fostering a social system that encourages them to kill off one another." Are white people the killers? Excaliber, are you killing blacks? God Bless America! |
Is there a difference here?
"A National Council of La Raza official recalls Obama arriving on time that day for a 1:30 p.m. event that was part of the group’s annual national convention." http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/03...-him-in-miami/ I might have preferred him to be at an anti-white sermon!.. |
BO is anti-white and you should start getting funds together to pay your portion of reparations for slavery and put your apology on paper to slave descendants for their hardships. Of course, the entire matter will not come up unless he's elected POTUS.
I'd say, about 80% of whatever you have in your 401K will do just fine with the rest needed for new social programs. |
...now where did I put that white hood? Oh yeah, meeting tonight in the parking lot, bring your pitch forks, matches and a wooden cross. Guest speaker for tonights event is from our brother in arms, The Aryan Nation.
|
Can I bring a gun?
Also, I'm thinking that you need a high colonic, STAT! Could you bring a copy of the kill list with you? |
I'm thinking your a phucking rascist!
|
Ernie,
You seem to be the one dealing in taunts and personalities. I'd entertain your ideas if they were just that..... ideas...... but you don't debate the ideas you simply hurl names and tired cliches. How about addressing the points? |
People that attack a candidates race, gender and character assasination via political spin IS the point I'm making. This thread is ripe with accusations and lies as it concerns Obama. I would feel the same if the subject was about Hillary or McCain. Such discourse is not a debate on the issues. If you don't like Obama because he's black or Hillary because she's a woman or McCain because he's white, thats a problem.
PHILADELPHIA - Democrat Barack Obama distanced himself from "stupid statements" by his longtime pastor that have aggravated racial divisions in the contentious Democratic primary battle, addressing what he called "a racial stalemate we've been stuck in for years." |
BS Ernie....name one time he made himself available to answer any and all questions from any news media?. I'm talking real, not scripted.

Any answers?

Ernie,
My grandmother was full blood Cherokee born in Hazel, NC. I have 7 nieces and nephews named Moreno. I have 2 grt nephews whose father is Nigerian. My family was on record as anti-slavery in books that were printed in the 1820's. And I think that Obama has issues with whites which exceed the boundaries of polite discussion. He has surrounded himself with people who espouse those beliefs, has made comments within his writings which lean that way, as well as his wife making her comments. Now call me a racist if you dare and realize that there are people who are legitimately concerned as to where he is coming from. God only knows he won't answer any questions which deal specifically with the topic. Right now I wouldn't vote for him or for David Duke based on their radical and divisive points of view. |
Ernie,
And as if on cue here from Obama's own speech today. " And yet, to wish away the resentments of white Americans, to label them as misguided or even racist, without recognizing they are grounded in legitimate concerns - this too widens the racial divide, and blocks the path to understanding." |
Point well taken BeanCounter. I've lived in the deep south, worked and lived closely with African Americans and as I've mentioned been the victim of reverse discrimination. The incident, which cost my job also ALMOST resulted in Federal charges for assault against a black man who attacked ME at work. I understand the anger of both sides of this issue (black/white). Some are justifiably concerned about where Obama stand as it concerns race.
As for myself, I'm not concerned with his position on the race issue. I to wrestled with my heritage and was 'angry' at times, said and did things I regretted, hung out with dubious characters. From that I emerged more enlightened, with more understanding of the issues. I concluded that above all I am an "American" first. I think Obama has come to the same conclusion in his personal life, and thus is particularly well suited to deal with these issues. Is he ready to lead the country, right now? Ever? I don't know, maybe, maybe not. It's an important discussion. There is a huge difference between legitimate concerns and flat out racist statements, we have seen both. |
