It's Official Now Gas over $4
Went to fill my car up yesterday and our gas here has jumped 37 cents in the last week. What this state laughingly calls Premium, ( 91 ) octane was $4.09. at the station I went to. I saw some others with it as high as $4.15. Another week or so and all 3 grades will be over $4 per gallon. I can't help but wonder where the Govt. got those headlines a few days ago that gas would peak at $3.69 a gallon. It has been above that here for the past 6 months. And of course we have the yearly 20 cents per gallon added on to catch the tourist trade. But with the economy the way it is, I have a feeling they aren't going to make their normal profits as many will not be coming.

Not quite that bad here, but it is creeping up. I noticed yesterday that premium (93 octane) was 3.69.

Joe,
You call that creeping up. Ours has been that high since a year ago. I really expect all three levels of it to be over $4 in another few weeks. Last year it hit a high of $4.39 at one Redding station. But the lack of tourists pouring in to the lake may slow it down this year.

$3.75 for premium on Friday.
Have not looked today, but I am sure it will be $4.00 or more by the end of June.

At the rate ours is going up, it may be over $5 by the end of June. It cost me $18 just for the gas for my lawnmowers. But everything is going up. I see the price of oil hit $115 per barrel. And there are some groups blowing up the pipelines in one of the oil exporting countries that we get a lot of our oil from.

Joe,
I can't even remember the last time we had gas up here as low as $3 a gallon. The lowest I remember in the past several years was once the low grade got down to $3.19.

Up here in British Columbia we havent seen even regular gas under 4$ for a long time, we are at about $4.50 per us gallon right now for regular 87 octane. 92 octane gas is easily an extra $1.50 a gallon... I remember when I was 16, 7 years ago now, and going and filling up for under $1 a gallon... Now those were the days...

I understand your pain. Even when I moved here in 2000 from San Diego, the gas price was about $.75 cheaper per gallon. I feel lucky that Texas is generally below the national average. I assume it has to do with the refineries in Texas and the oil in Texas.

and it won't stop ...... now that the oil industry has seen that unit sales are staying pretty constant even in the face of the increased price.

One of the big reasons that our gas goes up so fast this time of year is they want to soak the tourists and vacationers for all they can. Trouble is, the people that live here have to pay the same price. I will see how much it has gone up in the past three days tomorrow as I have to go to Redding and take my dogs to the vets. And I don't think they are going to have the vacationers this year like they always have. Many people here that normally go on vacation are staying home.

I figured I would leave the EH! off, but every Canuck I ever knew could never say about, it came out sounding like aboot.
I think the difference between a Canadian and a Scotsman is I can at least figure out most of the words in the Canadian language (not French). Scottish, I may catch every 3rd word if I am lucky.

$4.29 for diesel this afternoon, $3.87 for off road diesel.
Now even more trees have to die.
