I used to work with a guy that had a Fiero Ferrari. Never could understand what he saw in that car.

With a Cobra replica you have a car that performs as well, if not better than an original. And depending on the manufacturer, you have something that very closely resembles the original.

That is something you do not get with a Testarosa body kit on a Fiero.

He also tried to pass it off as an original, which to me is unforgivable.

I'm going to be gentle on you, as I want to believe that you speak from a position of ignorance rather than stupidity.

While it's true that there are many Cobra replicas out there that perform as well if not better than an original, there are also quite a few that don't. And, while there are also quite a few that closely resemble different versions of Cobras that were originally built back in the sixties, there - again - are quite a few that don't.

In a strange justaposition, there are actually more Ferrari replicas out there percentagewise that accurately mimic their factory-built counterparts than there are Cobras that do the same.

In many cases - Testarossas, GTOs, 355s, 512s, 328s, 348s, Daytonas and even Countach, Diablo, Mucielago - the replicas perform as well as (if not better than, in most cases) the original cars in the areas of performance, reliability and maintenance costs.

Your statement is not very well crafted.

Hoo, boy.

The only original Cobras were made back in the 60s. EVERYTHING else is a replica. There are no "real" Shelby Cobras being produced, there are only replicas of cars that were made back in the 60s until ol' Shel decided that the cars weren't making him enough money and he closed up shop ... effectively orphaning the Cobra and leaving the legacy of the car up to the enthusiasts - which is something Ferrari has never done.

Shelby himself has tried to pass off Cobra and Cobra accessories that were reproductions as 'original.' He's even gone so far as to create a 'continuation series' which is nothing more than a replica of a replica of a 60s Cobra. So before you get up on your high horse about things that are 'unforgivable' you need to make sure your house isn't made of glass. Thanks to people like Shelby, the entire community is made of the stuff.

Your pal,
Meat.

Meat, first off I could really give a rat's a$$ if you are gentle with me or not. From what I have seen in your responses to people on this site, I don't think I would go 5 feet our of my way to meet you in person. I could be wrong on that, you may be a very nice guy in person, but you don't come across like that here.

I will however give you credit for being a master at twisting others words to fit the point you are trying to make. And that point it that you are smarter and more informed than everyone else.

So, let's review your statements one by one.

"While it's true that there are many Cobra replicas out there that perform as well if not better than an original, there are also quite a few that don't. And, while there are also quite a few that closely resemble different versions of Cobras that were originally built back in the sixties, there - again - are quite a few that don't."

I will agree with the first part of your above response. I should have qualified it that there are some real crappy replicas out there. Some are the result of poor manufactures, and some are the result of the shade tree mechanic that assembled it over two weekends in his carport.

In regard to the second part, I did state that some cars closely resemble the original, and others do not. Depends on the manufacturer.

Okay, statement number 2.

"In a strange justaposition, there are actually more Ferrari replicas out there percentagewise that accurately mimic their factory-built counterparts than there are Cobras that do the same.

In many cases - Testarossas, GTOs, 355s, 512s, 328s, 348s, Daytonas and even Countach, Diablo, Mucielago - the replicas perform as well as (if not better than, in most cases) the original cars in the areas of performance, reliability and maintenance costs.

Your statement is not very well crafted."

A prize example of putting words in my mouth. Or at least attempting to.

I specifically referred to the Fiero Ferrari, nothing else. And occasionally when I do come out of the jungle, I have seen some replica Ferrari's. I specifically liked the 250 GTO that used the old 240-280Z as the starting platform.

Appears to me that your statement was not very well crafted, as you left your a$$ up in the air and unprotected.

I'm not even going to bother replying to your last response as it was just another example of your trying to appear superior. Had nothing to do with what I originally posted, and I have better things to do with my time.

And I will save you the time of responding if I misspelled any words, or my grammer is incorrect. I'm an engineer by profession. Most engineers can do wonders with numbers, but give us the written word and we suck. I know it, and really do not care.

Your pal,
Silver.

While I appreciate the offer, that's a gift I really can't accept.

Come back when you know what you're talking about.

I'm really disappointed in your response Meat as I thought you might be a challange.

Guess you don't know what to say when someone responds to you in kind.

You're looking for a fight, and you don't know what you're talking about. There's really no point in responding to your lack of knowledge because you'll just get more and more angry as your ineffectual attacks fail.

With your dearth of knowledge, my only advice to you is: get used to disappointment.

Your pal,
Meat.

Enough.

Meat...you're getting a week off during which time we'd like you to decide whether you really want to be a part of this community. Two threads closed today due to your "poking."

Personally, I like you and your intelligence, and I wouldn't mind sharing a beer or six with ya, but it just doesn't seem to be a good fit for you around here. my friend.

So, think it over. After a week if you want to come back in and get comfortable...great! I really would look forward to that. If you come back and continue the current course, we'll be showing you the door.

Thread remains closed.
