Perry,
Looks as if some places got a lot more rain from Ike than others. I believe that my cousin in the Ozarks said they were expecting another 4 to 8 inches and they had just received 7 1/2 inches a couple of days before. That area is turning into a rainforest.

Luckily we did not get any flooding like that, but the heaviest part of the storm missed me by about 30 miles.

Joe,
You were lucky that you missed the worst part of the storm. Maybe now things will settle down and people can start to get their lives back to normal for a while. It sure seems as if there has been an abundance of storms and fires this year.

Yea, down south is still a mess. I saw last night that one town the mayor had said it is safe to return, but then by the time people got there, they were being told to turn around and wait until it is safe to return. I would have been pissed. Good news though from work. I think that they are working on getting a donation help package together. I only caught part of it, but it looks like HR and Marketing are setting up a voluntary donation site that the company will match every donation made by the employees. They did this for Katrina and Rita, but actually matched double. I was hoping that they would do something like this for Ike.

That is good and it is nice that people and companies can come together and help out at times like this. When all the fires were going here they mainly needed blankets, cots, tents, and places for the fire fighters to rest, then asked for any more donations to be cash so they could buy the needed things.

Ron,
The Ozarks got hit pretty bad. When I asked my daughter last Friday why they hadn't called to let us know how they were she replied "We dropped the living room phone over the side of the boat and it wouldn't work any more. "

Bernie,
I know they have been having a lot of rain for quite a while. The one relative that I have left that I know of is a cousin that lives back there and he is the one that bought my Cobra. He lives about 10 miles South of the Missouri border and he has had a devil of a time trying to get his hay cut and bailed and he finally just had to let two of the farms go and brush hog the fields. They have several dams around there including Table Rock and he said the larger lake had backed up and was actually covering an upstream dam that was smaller. And we can't get anything but fire and dust out here.
They took off for a vacation going through New Mexico and will wind around and back through Oklahoma when they go home. He left the day before the storm went through. Great timing.

We lost a nearby lake to one hellava storm 8-10 years ago, and I thought ike might dump loads on us, instead, he just swirled northeast.

How do you lose a lake to a storm? Did the storm tear down a dam, or something?
