ROFL...blame Caxton, not me. True-story...My strangest language issue when I first came here was when we went skiing in Colorado the first time, and in one of the stores I was looking for a (English!) "bum-bag" for my wife. The man looked puzzled and said "you mean a fanny-pack?". My wife and I were truly amazed and I stuttered "no, no, it's a small bag that ties around your waist and has a pouch at the back. She doesn't wear it between her legs..."...check out what "fanny" means in England...LOL

two countries separated by a common language!!!!

I thought Fanny was only derogatory in Australia? BTW, I do not get it. Visually that is. Here in the states, beaver, clams, oysters, and tacos could be derogatory if one used them creatively in conversation... and visually, we'd get the point. But Fanny?
