It's too bad all these young libs. don't take the time to study history and understand what happened back 60 years ago. Perhaps they would reconsider their views about the benefits they now enjoy due to the blood shed by the people of the USA.
Old Bill |
Coxysailor is clueless,
Everybody hates the US, but they want come and live here and ask to US to defend their soil, since they not capable to to do this themself. But we are bullies. Ha Ha |
While I surely can't agree with Coxy, and I am a conservative, I too would like to pull our troops back and quit policing some of the worlds troublespots. The only trouble is, that he troops I would pull back are the ones in Korea, Japan, Germany, etc. I think after 50-60 years, that they should be self sufficient by now. I am pretty sure we will leave Iraq will before 50-60 years.:)

The Debate
I didn’t watch the debate because every time I see BO say something middle of the road or reasonable I know he is lying. So I’ll declare JM the winner. Europe I agree we have been too heavy handed in our dealings with Europe and around the world, and many countries resent it. I’m for withdrawing all of our troops from their overseas deployment along with our nuclear weapons. Concentrate on making the U.S. energy independent. Then for entertainment set back and watch Europe deal with Iran, Russia, and all the rest of the evil bastards in their part of the world. |
i agree 100% with decapello.

Too bad we didn't spend the last 60 years (and saved how many billions) minding our own business instead of keeping the Nazis and then 'The Bear' off Europe's ass so they could afford all that socialism. What a bunch of freaking ingrates. Can't wait for the next 20 years as oh-so-superior Europe goes native.
Hey Coxy, call us when they start chopping off hands for petty theft and your wives and daughters have to wear Hefty bags anytime they go outdoors. This is my favorite part: and doing that... come up with solutions that can be implementred in the 3'th world. After all that lecturing you expect us to fix the '3'th' world. Here's an idea my econ. major/food business guy...do it yourself! |

My opinion on the debate:
McCain- A bumbling idiot who kept tripping over himself. But at the same time, he was smart enough that when he didn't have any decent answers, to mention things that didn't need to be mentioned that made him still look good. Kind of like how the world buys into how Jessica Simpson acts all dumb and blonde and people eat it up, when it's really all an act. McCain gave the people what they want. Obama- A bunch of flashy and impressive sounding speaches with no meaning behind them. Empty words. Comes off confident until you actually listen to what he's saying. Definitely riding on his "rock star" personna that the people have for him. Either way, we're screwed. BTW, someone sent me this, it's 10 min long, so take some time and watch it. Pretty interesting stuff. http://www.jimdemint.com/blog/2008/0...is-watch-this/ |

While we did join in to WW2 and kick some serious butt, it is doubtfull we would have won against Germany solo if we did not have a friendly base (England) to jump off from. It is also doubtful that an invasion would have worked if Hitler had not gone after Russia and created a second front.
It was a group effort on the Allies part, and a lot of people died for their countries regardless of their side. Our contributions to WW2 does not give the US the right to tell other countries how to conduct their affairs. Our interference in outher countries has led to things like the Iranian hostage taking. Try to read your own responses, and you have the answer to why US are not always seen as positive and open to others opinion %/ Once again ... Sorry I even tried... |
LOL. Hard to believe that a long litany of supposed American 'sins' would be taken so poorly isn't it?

It's amazing how some europeans openly critizise the US without fear of retribution without realizing that the US is fully capable of blowing them into the stone age... yet doesn't.
The KGB wasn't so forgiving... There's an old saying "talk is cheap", especially when your a disarmed public like most of europe. You have freedom of speech, but no means of defending it. We have the same forces at work here but they haven't succeded, yet. Europe has already laid the foundation for the next Hitler with the Euro, Germany will soon tire of the rest of Europe's lousy economies riding on it's back. (kinda like ours) Coxswain, there are many Americans that look to Europe's example... Many want to follow it, thankfully (for you and us), many more that do not. |

PS - at least two European countries (excl ex-USSR countries) have ICBM's and nuke armed subs, so don't be too comfortable, although they are far too civilized to use them, of course. |
Wow. Some people really make me embarrassed to live on the same planet. Dumb ass Americans who forgot where their forefathers came from, and idiot Euros who blame the US for every evil on the planet. Great, let's all nuke each other. That'll end the debate on who's the best. Y'all are no different than the teenage posers on Youtube arguing over whether Lamborginis are better than Bugattis, if a tiger could kill a lion, or if Superman is better than Batman. Let's face it, the US politicians are no less crooked than European politicians. If you inspect the ethics level of most European leaders, you will find corruption just like you do here. Same for all this partisan bs spouted in the CC lounge. For some reason, there seem to be countless dimwits who swear that their party is honest and righteous while the other party is corrupt, stupid, and evil. Wake up people. There isn't a concept, country, or ideal alive that can't be properly killed or perverted by humans organized together. The larger the number of people gathered in organization, the worse the IQ of the people in charge. See US, China, and Russia for examples.
And back to the thread . . . "who won the debate". Well that is just as asinine as the soundbytes these guys give us during the debates. There was a time when debates were actually places where different viewpoints were discussed in detail and measured by merit and intelligence. Read the Lincoln Douglass slavery debates and see what a real "debate" is like. This **** is just camera posing and a battle of who can make the slickest "rhetoric". Great debates enlighten the viewer/listener, provide details to support positions, thus giving the voter a chance to understand the thought process of their next leader. They aren't clear-cut victories like a football game. Just exactly how are we enlightened by anything said in these debates? And BTW, there is no question that a lion would totally kick a tiger's ass. |
Oh bullsh!t. Lions hunt in packs and are likely to sulk away when alone. A tiger is a lone hunter and outweighs even a male lion (a rather lazy beast but for a few exceptional examples) by a far margin.
Might I suggest you busy yourself with some Animal Planet reruns. |
Yup. +1 on the lion/tiger thing. No contest. Somebody said the other day a donkey can get real ornery and a pissed off one can easily kick an elephant's a$$. Say it ain't so!
