Who won the debate?

A real car guy opinion on the debate. We will decide the next Presient.

I watched the debate with several people. Few crazy liberals and few nutty conservatives but mostly independents who are making up their mind.

Their concensus was that Obama won first 25-33% and McCain won the last part. I thought McCain flat out won the debate.
What are your thoughts.

I don't like Obama's capitol gains tax ideas nor his payroll tax views or his general tax views. His wife still looked pissed at the end of the debate. Can't see him directing the armed forces either.%/

Bill Bess 09-28-2008 09:05 PM

Fitz, I have to agree...McCain did a better job.

Obama was his very presidential self during the debate, but always answered, " John, you absolutely correct", "Jim, your absolutely correct", "Tom, your absolutely correct".

I guess Obama can't get Mc Cains name correct..and couldn't respond with anything better..so how empty is Barry's suit?

Old Bill

Danr55 09-28-2008 10:06 PM

You've nailed that one Fitz.

Do You Notice How Obama Stutters When He's Not Reading From A Telepromptor? I Think That Senator Mccain Won Hands Down... Dave

cobish 09-29-2008 02:28 AM

I think the debate was a toss up, with McCain leading a bit.
McCain needs to play play dirty politics, like Obama, who lies a lot in his campain adds if
McCain wants win this election, since our left wing media will not support McCain.
The drive by media and majior news network will distort or not report the truth.
God help this country if Obama is elected.

With 300 million people you would think that we would have a better choice than these two...

I think we all lost...:(:(:(

Yep, but we have to choose the lesser of two evils. I disagree with maybe 20% of what McCain wants. But nearly everyone loves a smooth talker like Obama ... when he has a TelePrompter! But I disagree with about 60% of Obama's promises he could never keep anyway.

Therefore, since I do not want a ultra-liberal marionette puppet for President, I will vote for McCain.

Chaplain 09-29-2008 10:23 AM

I think McCain did a better job simply because he had Obama on the defensive most of the time. The strategy was to rial McCain; but it seemed to be the other way around. At the end of the day OBAMA/BIDEN too easily becomes OsAMA/BInlaDEN. I'm too superstitious to let it slide.

Debate

I got family who are gun-ho for Obama and think I am nuts for not supporting this ultra liberal. These are under 35 year olds and older then dirt, like me. People just don't get that congress has messed most everything up. Of course the war didn't help.

All the media including the guys and girls on TV think :rolleyes:Obama won.
Their survey shows 80-20 in favor of Obama
USA Today is 60-40 for Obama.

I am thinking our next Pres is going to be Obama. Just can't figure out the folks in the USA not seeing through all these clowns in congress. the last true democrat that made some sense was Kennedy. Since then the congress has gone socialist especially since Newt was kicked out.

MaSnaka 09-29-2008 12:45 PM

I am just a simple minded, patriotic american citizen. But I did watch some of the debate out of curiosity. It was my feeling that a lot of the statements coming from both candidates became a contest of who could name, and pronounce the most countries and leaders names in the middle east and former ussr. I am having a hard time buying into all the "great smooth no problem we have the answer" comments by Obama.

Mod Note...

If this thread was going to be a local chat among the AZ club, then it could
remain in the Open Forum area.

However, since others from around the country have chosen to visit the Arizona Club Forum and comment, the topic is more suited for the Lounge.

What should we do, Fitz?

Rick Weber 09-29-2008 02:24 PM

Hey Ron,

Maybe the answer is to open 2 new sites:
1. Republi-Cobras
2. Demo-Cobras

hahaha,

Rick

One thing's for sure, an elephant or a jack*** both have proven that
they don't know a lick of what's going on or what's going to happen. Why anyone would favor the liberal mentality of more government is beyond me.
Give me an army some safe federal roads for cruising and then stay the
heck out of my life.

I am Mags427 and I approve this message.:)

The 2

With 300 million people you would think that we would have a better choice than these two...

We do its just that most people don't know some of the other candidates are much less vote for them for fear of "throwing away their vote" mentality.

Danr55 09-29-2008 07:01 PM

Fitz, My father told me once that most people are a communist at 17, a Democrat at 24, a Republican at 35 and just damned sick and tired of the BS at 45. When you have little or nothing to lose, it's easy to support a platform that wants to give everything away in entitlement programs. When you have something to lose, that you've worked hard to get, it's difficult to understand why you should share what you've worked hard for with folks to figure the color of their skin or where they come from or their lineage entitles them to a free ride at your expense. So don't be surprised that the young, the very old, the unemployed, the welfare scammers and the illegals all support Osama Obama and his give away programs.

Ronbo 09-29-2008 10:33 PM

I've had it myself Dan, I'm switching to Libertarian. It may be "tossing away my vote" but it's the only party I 100% agree with.

COBRANIP 09-30-2008 12:42 AM

Ronbo
I hear you and agree.....but Florida is too close (in the polls anyway) to risk giving the states electorial votes to the liberals. Voting Libertarian may be short term satisfaction in exchange for 4 years of marching towards socialism. Please reconsider!

P.S. I am Conservative, not Republican and closer to Libertarian.

coxysailor 09-30-2008 03:43 AM

Can a European guy just add a little :) :

Here in Europe approx. 80% are hoping that the Republican nightmare will end soon. %/

Problem as we (read any European paper) see it:

If US could stick to concentrate on DOMESTIC affairs we don't care... BUT the minute US take on the role as World Police and try to tell us all how we are to live it goes very wrong...

- Why is it that you Americans always think you know better
- Why don't you look to your own challanges  (poor people, crime rates, polution, energy consumption, dependency of fossil fuel vs. co2 neutral)

I'm convinced that the general oppionion here in Europe is that the best US could do for the World is: Fix you own problems - and doing that... come up with solutions that can be implementred in the 3'th world.

Are you aware the Europeans think US is the biggest risk for peace in the world - and one of the worst in not developing "Green energy" :(

Just my 2 cent :)

PS: Before some radical person calls me all kind of things... I'm 47, father of 2 girls, holds an MBA in Economics and are the President of a Food Business in Europe...

MAGS427 09-30-2008 06:19 AM

coxysailor

Written like a true European socialist/marxist. Why are you Europeans so looking
forward to the end of the Republican nightmare? Do you even understand our form
of government? The fact of the matter is that the majority of our government(Congress)is run by the Democrat party and more than likely will be the case after this election.

Why do we think we know better? How about World War II? Did we not know what was "better" then? Where would Europe be if the United States hadn't freed them?

Here's your best line

"I'm convinced that the general oppionion here in Europe is that the best US could do for the World is: Fix you own problems - and doing that... come up with solutions that can be implementred in the 3'th world."

You cry, "why don't we mind our own business" yet you want us to solve 3rd world issues. Which one is it?

Some things never change.
