Saddam's WMD Found & Removed
This has been flying under the radar. Read the MSNBC article and check the truthorfiction.com site. The TorF version is shown below. This event is factual. I have an increased respect for President Bush. He has taken the heat of being called a liar and a war monger for 5 years while he kept his silence to protect the people of the world. This is truly a display of selfless honor.
On July 5, 2008, the Associated Press (AP) released a story titled: Secret U.S. mission hauls uranium from Iraq. The opening paragraph is as follows: The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein's nuclear program a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans. See anything wrong with this picture? We have been hearing from the far-left for more than five years how, Bush lied. Somehow, that slogan loses its credibility now that 550 metric tons of Saddam's yellowcake, used for nuclear weapon enrichment, has been discovered and shipped to Canada for its new use as nuclear energy. It appears that American troops found the 550 metric tons of uranium in 2003 after invading Iraq. They had to sit on this information and the uranium itself, for fear of terrorists attempting to steal it. It was guarded and kept safe by our military in a 23,000-acre site with large sand beams surrounding the site. This is vindication for the Bush administration, having been attacked mercilessly by the liberal media and the far-left pundits on the blogosphere. Now that it is proven that President Bush did not lie about Saddam's nuclear ambitions, one would think the mainstream media would report the story. Once the AP released t he story, the mainstream media should have picked it up and broadcast it worldwide. This never happened, due in large part I believe, to the fact that the mainstream media would have to admit they were wrong about Bush's war motives all along. Thankfully, the AP got it right when it said, The removal of 550 metric tons of yellowcake the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam's nuclear legacy. Closing the book on Saddam's nuclear legacy. Did Saddam have a nuclear legacy after all? I thought Bush lied. As it turns out, the people who lied were Joe Wilson and his wife. Valerie Plame engaged in a clear case of nepotism and convinced the CIA to send her husband on a fact finding mission in February 2002, seeking to determine if Saddam Hussein attempted to buy yellowcake from Niger. The CIA and British intelligence believed Saddam contacted Niger for that purpose but needed proof. During his trip to Niger, Wilson actually interviewed the former prime minister of Niger, Ibrahim Assane Mayaki. Mayaki told Wilson that in June of 1999, an Iraqi delegation expressed interest in 'expanding commercial relations' for the purposes of purchasing yellowcake. Wilson chose to overlook Mayaki's remarks and reported to the CIA that there was no evidence of Hussein wanting to purchase yellowcake from Niger. However, with British intelligence insisting the claim was true, President Bush used that same claim in his State of the Union address in January of 2003. Outraged by Bush's insistence that the claim was true, Wilson wrote an op-ed in the New York Times in the summer of 2003 slamming Bush. Wilson did this in spite of the fact that Mayaki said Saddam did try to buy the yellowcake from Niger. The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence disagreed with Wilson and supported Mayaki's claim. This meant nothing to Wilson who was opposed to the Iraq war and thus had ulterior motives in covering up the prime minister's statements. It was a simple tactic really. If the far-left and their friends in the media could prove Bush lied about Hussein wanting to purchase yellowcake from Niger, it would undermine President Bush's credibility and give them more cause for asking what other lies he may have told. Yet, the real lie came from Wilson, who interpreted his own meaning from the prime minister's statements and concluded all by himself that the claim of Saddam attempting to purchase yellowcake was 'unequivocally wrong.' Curiously, the CIA sat on this information and did not inform the CIA Director, who sided with Bush on the yellowcake claim. This was made public in a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report in July 2004. Valerie Plame also engaged in her own lie campaign by spreading the notion that the Bush administration outed her as a CIA agent. Never mind that it was Richard Armitage -- no friend of the Bush administration -- who leaked Plame's identity to the press. Never mind that Plame had not been in the field as a CIA agent in some six years. The truth is, due to their opposition to the war, Joe Wilson, Valerie Plame, the mainstream media and their left-wing friends on the blogosphere engaged in a propaganda campaign to undermine the Bush administration. Now that Saddam's uranium has been made public and is no longer a threat to the world, do you think these aforementioned parties will apologize and admit they were wrong? Don't count on it. The rest of the American people should hear the truth about Saddam's uranium. It is up to you and me to inform them every chance we get. As far as the anti-war crowd is concerned, the next time they say that, 'Bush lied,' we should tell them to, 'Have the yellowcake and eat it too.' There WAS news of this discovery way back then. I remember reading about it. But then after that.... nothing. Some kind of bunker containing all this stuff... radiation levels off the chart. I always wondered why that never turned into a bigger story.

Part of the problem?
They never asked the right people about the WMD's in Saddams arsenal. There were thousands of Kurds who found out first hand when they were gassed. Women and children. Oh wait, they're all dead... Don't bother with the truth, the Left doesn't need it for anything they do... |

:o
This from memory and I am old and don't remember well so don't anyone get to excited about it. But I remember reading about that and I later saw a very small article in some newspaper that since he hadn't actually used an atomic bomb, therefore they could not consider the stuff he had to make them as WOMD material. Since we, Russia,China, and I don't know how many have nuclear weapons assembled but aren't using them, I guess by that definition we don't have any either. And the fact he tried to buy more and never got it in no way takes away the fact that he did have some to start with. Using that to cover the rest is just pure B.S. Ron  |
There is a little more to the story than the spin version presented.
http://www.factcheck.org/askfactchec...at_the_us.html Note that this stuff was under guard from 1991 until 2003 when the US invaded. Steve |
Ok, Steve, now just which of these versions is absolutely correct and how do you know?
Ron  |
factcheck.org... a truly unbiased perfect institution of truth.
(insert another coughing up a liver vomit smilie here) :JEKYLHYDE kind of convenient that factcheck didn't catch (or post) these hmmmmm? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,433314,00.html I expect better from you Steve. ;) |
Just so you know factcheck.org is not an unbiased and reliable source to check your facts. They are very much supported by the left-wing liberals.

Well JT,
Dick Cheney quoted Factcheck during one of his debates. If it is good enough for him it should be good enough for you...;):p Ron, There is other evidence as well, but very few people on this forum seem interested in reading it - I have posted it before. Some comes from the UN team sent in before the war, some comes from our own government reports. There is plenty from the ISG that cites some of these reports, and if somebody wants to slog through it it can be very educational. However, despite the majority of evidence indicating that Hussein had nothing that would constitute WMD, there is still no way to prove that he did not as you cannot prove a negative. Steve |

Great - info from a website linked to the Annenburg Project. Another ultra-liberal site linked to the radical Ayers that bombed the Pentagon, and Osama Obama worked on that project for a while. Oh, and also connected to that wonderful group called ACORN that is currently under investigation for voter fraud in a dozen states. And I really like that hard hitting factual claims they produce like the last statement on the first Q&A .... and I quote ... Quote:
What concrete evidence! I'm amazed the writer did not say ... na, na ... my father can beat up your father. Anyone who thinks the info on that web page is factual has definitely gone into the Kool-Aid jug a few too many times. And I almost forgot ... since I wrote something critical of the Messiah Obama, I must be a racist. God help us if that smooth talking socialist gets elected. |
Warren,
It's a Q and A. The Q was either sent in by somebody, or they phrased it in the form if an informal question themselves - probably paraphrasing from a bunch of similar questions. Go back and re-read - pay a little closer attention to the format when you do. If you have evidence linking them to Ayers or some other group please feel free to post it rather than just making accusations. And then feel free to read the ISG report. Steve |
Ayers?
You mean this guy? http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Ma...res_ayers1.jpg What's that he's standing on so proudly? Yeah, Obama kicked off his political career in 1995 in this guy's living room. Maybe that's why Obama refused show any reverence or salute the flag - or wear a lapel pin. Ayers has accomplished alot over the years, a dozen bombs including the Pentagon. Seven people dead - I thought Liberals didn't like it when people died... On September 11th, 2001, Ayers says in the New York Times (where the bombs should have been) he had no regrets about it and should have done more. After all, he beat the charges and escaped conviction thru the very same subterfuge Obama relishes and the Clintons conquered the world on. Okay, I'll stop. This is so effortless, so obvious, yet millions of Americans can't seem to grasp it. This country deserves Obama if he's voted in as President. |
The topic was about WMD...it was not about Ayers or Liberals.
Lounge or no Lounge, stay on topic or move on. thanks ron ClubCobra Moderator |
Ayers was referenced in the VRM post above.
I was following along. Left-Wing and anti-war are terms used in the intial post setting the tone for this thread. Okay, disagreeing with the Mod Squad is never a good thing to do.... Sorry Ron, scolding heeded. |
LOL...the Black Helicopter crew is at it again!
This is nothing new at all. Most of it was remnants from Saddam's nuclear facilities that had been stolen after the war, then recovered. There was no equipment found to process this material into weapons grade uranium. The fact still remains...no WMD were found...probably because Saddam lied and never had them to begin with. |
I think a good look around Syria & Jordan would have turned up a thing or two.
The UN botched that so bad, the Boy Scouts would have done a better job. Saddam had the so-called WMD's. The Kurds I made reference to didn't die of the flu. Why does NOBODY seem to remember that? We sold them all kinds of stuff in the eighties when they were at war with Iran. They got some UGLY stuff from France, Germany and Russia - part of the reason they didn't want us in the country snooping around and refused to support the war effort in 2003. To say Iraq had no dirty weapons is sheer folly, and joins the hallowed halls of questions ranging from who shot JFK to who cares about Britney Spears. Answers no longer matter because the questions would never die, no matter the truth. I live in an Alice In Wonderland world, it would seem.... |

Just like they forget about the convoys of Iraqi trucks heading into Syria before the U.S. ground campaign began. And like they forget about the massive amount of chemical weapon grade gas Syria was getting ready to use against Israel just months after the Iraq invasion. Hmm... I wonder where Syria got it from? Saddam was no fool. Using any form of WMD against U.S. troops would instantly justify the U.S. invasion. And leaving them in Iraq for them to be found after the invasion would also justify the U.S. invasion... so what's Saddam to do with all of this stuff. Easy: sell and ship it off to the Syrians who will most likely put it to use against Israel, in retailiation for Israel taking out Saddam's nuclear facilities many years before. Oh, but it's convenient to forget that Israel had to destroy nuclear facilities in Iraq, because that too shows at minimum the intent of Saddam to possess nuclear weapons. |
ooo I must thank those who helped me with blocking users..... consider it never mind"ed"

I mentioned Ayers because he was listed in a post by Warren as a reason to discredit one of my sources of information. I agree that Hussein had WMD - he did use them on the Kurds. However, those WMD would have expired after a small handful of years and become useless. The UN had teams in Iraq with unrestricted access just before our invasion. They found nothing of any real importance (empty rocket tubes), nor did they find anything indicating that there had been any recent WMD development, and the ISG report bears this out. Something could have been transported out, but if we had any sort of legitimate suspicion/evidence that had happened then shouldn't we have invaded Syria or Jordan? Steve |
