Default Fall Color Pictures

OK everyone. It's time to start posting your fall color pictures. The full color has not yet arrived in my area, but there are patches of color if you look for them.

Sadly, we won't be having any Fall colors this year. Everything around here in the mountains where they are normally so nice is burned, brown black, and off limits to the public as they are cutting roads into them to try to plant grass & trees to prevent erosion just in case we should get some rain this Winter. I thought about going up to Lassen Park but the rangers told me that many of the nicer places are still off limits. So do you want a picture of some burned trees?

Ron
There has to be some trees left in your area with leaves. Here is one I took during yesterday's ride to nowhere.

I did this thread last year. It was good then.

Warren, thanks for carrying this forward this year.

These are some of the best pictures!

Nice pictures Warren. But I would have to drive quite a ways to find a spot that they will allow me into right now to get any pictures. Even the few unburned spots around here are closed to the public right now as they are working to get the hill sides covered in case of rain. Even Angles Island in the San Francisco Bay had a big fire the other day and burned a lot of it but they saved the Civil war structures. I will keep watching for some place that has some color and see if I can get a picture or two.

I got a good chuckle out of that one Fred.

What most may not realize is that fall is when we have our green grass. All the rest of the year most everything is dead or dry or dormant.

My grass is turning yellow, but that is because I don't water it much. Besides with Halloween decorations, green grass looks kinda out of place.

From my ride yesterday in 52°F weather.

and while driving thru Milton, I spotted a little pond about 100 ft from the road. Too many trees overhead, so the shot is kinda dark ...

but I walked into the woods to the edge of the pond and took this picture. The colors should be much better in a week or so ...

Those are nice. We used to have trees like that around here and over by the dam.

I took a very basic 3 hour ride to nowhere yesterday. Only put 33 miles on the Cobra, but I did get some pics of the fall color. Still not at peak color here, but its getting better every day.

All telephone wires should be put underground.

Are those colors late this year? I can remember way back when I lived in
New England that the first Sunday in October was usually the day to take a
drive to see the colors and about a week or so later - no more leaves in
the trees - time to rake!

Warren,

Really nice pictures. Wish we had some color around here as this brown and black from the fires is really depressing at times.

Flip,

This may be the last color Warren sees except white from the deep snow for the next 6 months. I read a weather report about here yesterday and both are saying we will also have a long and very cold Winter, but one says we will have a wet one and the other a dry one. I guess maybe one of them could be correct. I don't look forward to the cold, but the wet we could certainly use.

The peak fall color moves from North to South. But as it gets down to my area, the peak color where I live is about 2 to 3 weeks after the rest of MA. There is a heat sink called Boston. So the area around me is the last area to get the color. The peak is just about here and sweeping thru CT and RI now.

Of course, the best fall colors are up in mountain areas of VT and NH, but that was quite a few weeks ago.

Hey, the Mt Shasta Goddess is too busy drinking all of your water out of the Shasta Reservoir. That hag is going to dump all of it first on CA, before she gets to Tru or me.

Warren,

Why do you think she is drawing all of that water out of the lake? Deep inside where the little people live, they are turning it into snow and getting it ready for her to dump it on you and Tru. He has a tractor, but you will need a snow cat and a door on the roof of your house to get outside this Winter. But maybe Obama and Teddy will send you help.

Great pictures.

We do not get anything like that here. We get our one day of fall, when the cold front blows through and takes every leaf off of every tree, then the cold sets in for awhile.
Our Fall colors consist of people putting their Christmas lights up too early.

The sweet wife and I went through the Blue Ridge Mountain Range in fall one year. Now that is something to see.
