Robin Hood Obama

By Boston Herald Editorial Staff
Thursday, October 16, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama may be his generation’s version of the Great Communicator, but no amount of happy talk is going to make this economy better. The key now is to not make it worse.

And that means not making it worse for those small businesses that are the real generator of jobs, of hopes and of dreams.

So good for Sen. John McCain for standing up for Joe Wurzelbacher, a Toledo plumber, who confronted Obama on a campaign rope-line Tuesday about the Democratic contender’s so-called tax cut plan.

“He looked at your plan and you were going to increase his taxes,” McCain said last night. “Joe was trying to buy a business” and hire other employees.

“Joe, I’ll not only help you buy that business . . . I’ll not stand for a tax increase on small business income,” McCain said.

Obama had told Wuzelbacher, “It’s not that I want to punish your success. I want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too. . . . I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

So there you have it. The ugly truth about Obama’s real economic plan, his real plan for this nation’s future.

“We’re going to take Joe’s money and give it to Sen. Obama so that he can spread the wealth around,” McCain explained, and called it what it truly is - “class warfare.”

Remember Robin Hood?

An analysis by the Heritage Foundation found that Obama’s proposal for “refundable tax credits” is little more than an enormous welfare program that would take from guys like Joe Wurzelbacher to provide checks from the IRS to an additional 10 million Americans by 2011.

Now that’s straight talk.

Let's be clear what Obama wanted to do. What Obama wants to do is spread Joe Plumber’s money around. With the power of deadly force he will take Joe’s property - his wealth. Then spread it around based on Obama’s arbitrary criteria on who should get money that Joe earned through his smarts and sweat.

That kind of transfer used to be called theft. When liberals do it, then its called justice. When marxist do it, then its called marxist economics.

So let’s sum up: Obama's chief financial supporter was Tony Rezko, now on his way to prison. His spiritual adviser was the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, of “God damn America” fame. And the guy who got him his only administrative job is former, unrepentant terrorist William Ayers.

I think if McCain is smart, he makes a campaign commercial with Joe Plumber. And then he just crushes Obama’s answer. “Well Joe, unlike Barack Obama, I intend to let you and every other hardworking American small businessmen and women, to keep more of what you earn by being PRODUCTIVE, HARD-WORKING people that MAKE THIS COUNTRY THE GREAT COUNTRY THAT IT IS! And damn if I’m going to raise your taxes! I’m going to fight to LOWER your taxes and get government OUT OF YOUR WALLET! IT’S YOUR MONEY, NOT THE GOVERNMENTS, NOT ANYONE ELSE’S. IT’s YOURS, JOE, And I’m going to fight for you to keep more of it.

And the logical reasons for having Joe keep his money are many. He will be most likely to continue spending that money in responsible ways by...

1) using the money to hire more workers so others can not only share the wealth but help create it, or at least save up more money for hard times.

2) not using the money on an inflated mortgage which he can’t afford.

3) not gambling, doing drugs or prostitutes or the many other non-productive ways of using money.

4) not giving more money to a government agency which will take out a big cut for operating expenses and hand out the minimal remainder to buy votes.

You guys are missing a big component of our economy.

If people do not have money to spend to buy kitchen upgrades then Joes business will not be able to keep those people employed if nobody is buying kitchen sinks.

You don't hire 20 people if you only have work for 10. Giving tax cuts only to the top end will not generate jobs when there is no market for their products

No, you HUGE buggerin' wanker, you are missing the whole point of capitalism. Creating and continually re-creating the welfare state is not going to help Joe or anyone else.....giving money to people is not the answer - creating jobs is the answer and that's done through lower taxes on those that create jobs.

I wish that McCain has said so on national TV:

"What Senator Obama proposes is nothing more than a Marxist redistribution of wealth reminiscent of the old Soviet Union, Eastern Europe during the cold war, Cuba under Castro, North Korea, and communist countries around the world. In the words of Karl Marx, the father of communism, 'From each according to their means, to each according to their needs.' My opponent calls this the "trickle up theory." I call it the largest redistribution of wealth from small business owners -- from every 'Joe the Plumber' who has worked long hours, saved money rather than spent like a drunken congressman on things he can't afford, taken risks at personal sacrifice, and built a business that employs people in the community and pumps money back into the local economy -- to people who, under my opponent's plan, don't work, and don't even pay taxes. How do you give tax breaks to people who don't pay taxes? In a socialist/Marxist society, you confiscate the wealth earned by the people who build businesses and create jobs and you let some bureaucrat give your money to able bodies adults who don't work and really don't want to work out of some sense of entitlement. Senator Obama's Marxist economic proposals failed in the Old Soviet Union as evidenced by the fall of the Berlin Wall, and they have failed in Cuba, North Korea, and communist countres around the world. Obama's plan is wrong for America and it is wrong for the world."

If Obama wins then we have effectively turned control of our national defenses over to Code Pink. Our national treasury over to the Chicago mob. Our justice department to the Rainbow Coalition. Control of our elections to ACORN. Our national ministry of propaganda to HuffingtonPost, DailyKos and MoveOn (which admittedly would be an improvement over CNN/ABC/NBC/CBS/NYT/WP/AP, et al). The IRS to Charlie Rangel. Banking/Finance to Chris Dodd and Barney Frank. Housing to Tony Rezco. The new Global Warming Department to Al Gore. The State Department to Clinton, Inc. Education to NOW. The selection of our judges to the ACLU. Homeland Security to Bill Ayers.

“It’s not that I want to punish your success,” Obama told him. “I want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success, too.”

What BO was actually saying....

"I mean, you have been out all day repairing a sewer pipe with your crew. But what about that guy who was up playing Grand Theft Auto all night, and woke up too late for his job interview today? What is HE going to eat tonight, if I don't take a little from you to help him?"

Well the way I see it your party wants the people that make less than $250,000 to pay for the mess that you left, Obama wants the people that make that and more to pay for this mess! either way someone has to pay for it, or do we keep putting it on a credit card and let our grandkids pay for it, or better yet the total collapse of our society because we bankrupted our country! You know even Warren Buffet said that his secretary paid more in taxes than he does, so who can better afford to pay for this?

Barrow and spend! barrow and spend! you know I would rather tax and spend then do it your way, at least the bills get paid!

You can't honestly believe that, can you?

I watched on C-Span as Representative after representative came forward to speak for or against the bailout bill. The overwhelming majority of democrats were for passing it; the majority of republicans were against it (although some indicated they were going to vote for it anyway because it was the "best option at the time.").

If the democrats are for the poor, why are the poor still poor?

We the people need to stop listening to what polititians SAY and start watching what they DO; because those are two VERY different things.

cobra bill 10-16-2008 01:44 PM

Oh I for one was not for the bail out, I think it's a bad idea! I took all my money out of the stack market when Bush took office, well it took a while but it turns out it was a good idea! And I have always lived within my means, and my job is safe, so short of another great depression I will be fine. I just don't see ware bailing them out, teaches them anything.

Perry,
Jobs are only created when there is a market for the goods/services that the worker will be providing.

Right now the economy is sinking partly because joe six pack cannot afford to go buy beers and cars. This, in turn, causes loss of jobs when Joe does not go to his favourite bar or Ford dealer.

American capitalism hinges entirely on the middle class. If the middle class does well, then the rich and the poor do well because the middle class will spend money on the goods/services offered by businesses owned by the rich (who will also give jobs to the poor and middle class).

If the middle class are not spending money than the business owners reduce their payroll. If they get a tax cut they do not go and higher more people - what makes you think that they do?

The whole thing is a balancing act, however the GOP leans too much towards the rich, and the DNC leans too much towards the poor. Right now, the middle class needs a tax break, and they also need our idiots-in-charge to stop doubling the debt every 8 years. Both Obamas and McCains tax plan will raise the national debt.

wtm442 10-16-2008 03:03 PM

The US Government taxes businesses at the second highest rate in the world compared to all other countries.

Do you think that has any effect on why businesses like to ship jobs overseas? If the stupid tax code was changed, there would be less jobs shipped overseas. Do you honestly think that will happen with Obama, Pelosi, Frank and Dodd at the controls?

Oh yes ... the government(s) in the US take 35 cents in taxes out of every worker's dollar.

Do you think it would be better to lower taxes on people and businesses like McCain proposes ....

Or is Obama's tax and wealth distribution (ie - socialism) a better way?

cobra de capell 10-16-2008 03:09 PM

WOW! You are most definitely at serial repeater. You’ve been posting basically the same thing for months, unable to get off the fence – just like a post turtle.

Do you fully realize how tired everyone here is of your posts that seem to go in circles?

”It’s the economy, stupid!” is really the only issue. Either Obama or McCain has the plan that suits you.

Sometimes I wonder if you need input into whether or not to wipe your butt each and every time.

Look into Barnie Frank and Chris Dodd, and their connection to Fannie and Freddie is you want the real cause of this economic crash. It's funny that the Democrats are the main cause of this problem, yet the republicans are being blamed because Bush is president.

Nihilists have a problem deciding whether to wipe from front to back or from back to front. :)

Totally Wrong. Joe six pack will always be able to buy beers.

The current mess started in the financial community ... period. It had absolutely nothing to do with the unemployment at 5%. But the end result WILL be higher unemployment if the bailout bill fails.

Most small business and banks are finding it extremely difficult to get short term loans (less than a week). They are afraid that the other institution might go belly up in a few days, so short term borrowing is extremely tight.

This has spread to Joe Six Pack trying to get a car or house loan. He would have gotten the loan 6 months ago, but he may not get it in today's economy.

You can thank Barney Frank and Dodd for this mess (plus a ton of other Democrats, Republicans and shady wall-street types). It started to unfold many years ago.

Now, because Joe-six-pack does not have the money to buy a house or car without a loan, Joe six pack's brother loses his job at the auto dealer.

And around and around we go.

Yes actually I do have a Cobra, I also have 2 Amx's a Trans AM Javelin a 65 f150 my daily driver is a Pontiac Solstice, I have a kick ass little CRX, and a couple of sport bikes. I had a large collection of cars before I was transferred, the government does not move your car collections, they only move your household goods. I had to sell 7 amx's 3 GTO's 2 Firebirds a 68 Camaro, and a 67 Mustang convertible. I chose the hardest ones to replace and sold the rest, I'm now getting back into a situation where I can go back into restoring and building hot rods, and muscle cars. I will be retiring in the next year or so depending on the War, if I can help the troops going into harm's way I will remain. As for not posting much on other topics, I just feel very strong about how we have been led in the wrong direction and how badly the constitution has been stepped on, and how badly our troops are being used like pawns, and not taking care of them when they return! I have spent my whole life working for the armed forces and it's a tragedy what this administration is doing to these guy's, I'm there first hand and see it every day! so yes I get a bit frustrated by so called conservatives, that party lost its way and I can't in good conscious sit back and listen to the rightwing rhetoric without speaking up.
Sorry if it gets your goat at times, but until our country can be taken back from the nuts that are running it now, I have to speak out!
