Uzi micro submachine gun
 

Christopher Bizilj of Ashford, CT, was trying out a fully loaded micro Uzi submachine gun when he lost control of the weapon and shot himself in the head, causing his death. His father who was at the Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo said it was a terrible accident.

Oh, I almost forgot. Christopher was an 8 year old kid. Yep, 8 years old. Good job, Dad. Parent of the Year material. Truly unbelievable.

A manager at work made a comment that the dealer should be shot.

I had to ask him, what about the father?
Oh, yeah, he should be shot too, but "that dealer" should be shot.

Amazing how piss-ignorant people can rise to powerful management positions - even in nuke power.

As a gun dealer myself, I told him I took exception to such a comment.
Granted, the dealer is a moron for allowing the child to be in that predicament.
I see legal woes in his future.
I have no pity for him in that regard, I just got tarrred and feathered in effigy as a result of his actions.
If the father wanted the boy shooting, he should have been where I was as a child - out in the country with my Dad. My kids learned about guns the same way, out in the desert with ME keeping a very close eye on their every move.
If nothing else, I don't wanna be shot!

Allowing anybody to fire an Uzi without some skill and experience, especially fully automatic, is stupid. They may not have the larger recoil of something in .30 caliber, but they are a short, small, slippery gun and controllability is NOT a strong point.

You haven't heard or read a single fact yet, but by golly - some smart person decided for you that the laws must change. This sh!t isn't news, it's propaganda.

Then you click on the link to be entertained with a flashy graphic touting Connecticut Network and its immediate assertion that Government by the people starts here.
This is followed by their logo with the phrase "Your state, your government, your network" attached.

Watching the video, think about how long the story is - and how much is actually discussing facts.
The TV producers gotta skip thru the facts and get straight to the Oprah Winfrey bullsh!t about how it makes us feel.
Oh, the horror. Oh, the tragedy. Oh, where are our lawmakers?
Yeah, think about it....


Now, let's look at the text accompanying the video and some of the Chicken Little bleeding heart bullsh!t we've come to expect from the news media.
Text like;

"If the law allows an 8-year-old boy to fire a machine gun, then the law must be changed."
This is knee-jerk Liberalism defined. Stupidity of a parent will NEVER be illegal.
We do NOT need to add to the 22,000 gun laws already on the books in this country.
I say we could probably come up with 22 laws TOTAL that would cover anything the stupidest or smartest criminal could dream up, then we could start enforcing them - instead of more creeping Socialism.

Again, it's a tragedy for sure. The parent fxcked up. It's a done deal.
The real tragedy is millions of Americans believe we need more and more laws to replace the laws that don't work or are never enforced.
Here's a law I would like to see passed - make the gov't ENFORCE every single law now on the books.
They should simply remove the ones they never bother with....

Somebody, anybody, PLEASE define the term "assault weapon" for me once and for all.
In New England, Maryland, Illinois, and California a slingshot is considered an "assault weapon."

I am in total agreement. The Father was at fault and should be held to account. If the gun dealer had refused to let the kid fire the Uzi, the Father would have sued and won. It is really fortunate that he never sprayed the whole area and hurt or killed more. Morons will never understand that a machine gun, especially one as light as a Uzi are not like firing a heavy rifle. I still remember my first time I fired a Grease Gun in Korea. Took some getting used to.

A very sad situation.

I belonged to a gun club for many years and for the most part all the members strictly followed the rules with regards to gun safety. I do however recall a few times when the folks got a little lacks or failed to use common sense and near accidents occured.
The most common situations were guys displaying their loaded guns proudly, and letting an in experienced person hold and check out the firearm, on a few occasions the guns went off...luckily nobody got shot.
Guns are not very forgiving, so judgement is key to preventing accidents.
In this case the boy was too young to play with an automatic weapon. The gun club guy and the father were pretty stupid.

I have to agree, this is the fault of the father, there is some blame that should go to the dealer, this will cause the extreme left as you call them liberals to go nuts, but keep in mind there are degrees to all groups, weather liberal or conservative. I have raised my kids around guns and taught them how to handle them correctly and I would never put a weapon like that in the hands of an 8 year old. and I am a liberal, that believes in personal reasonability.

First of all an Uzi is not a machine gun, it is a sub machine gun. I used to own a Mini Uzi and it is a very easy weapon to shoot because of being chambered in 9mm. It is very similar to an MP5 which a lot of SWAT teams use because of the ease of keeping it on target even in full auto or burst mode.

I actually had the chance to fire a Grease Gun while I was in the Army, and you are correct. But being chambered in .45 (which the grease gun is) is a big difference from a 9mm. BTW, the Grease Gun was the biggest POS I have ever fired. I was glad to get my M-16 back. lol...

I had my first gun when I was 6. I was taught by my father how to handle, shoot and care for a firearm properly. I also gained valuable experience in the Army and in law enforcement when it comes to using a firearm around others. muzzle discipline is something that everyone should learn. I see people on civilian ranges that don't have a clue about keeping their weapon pointed away from yourself or someone else. If we can do it when clearing a house it should not be that hard on the range.

If you don't know enough about firearms do properly train or supervise someone else (as is seems was the fathers case here), then you should seek out someone who does. I feel sorry for the kid, his dad was a moron.

Ok, my bad, I called the Uzi a machine gun instead of a Sub Machine gun and I know that it is chambered for 9 MM. As for the Grease Gun, in my job I didn't have room for a rifle and they didn't have any Thompsons available so they gave me a Grease Gun with the idea that if I had to use it, I would be in very close quarters and could just spray the whole area. I carried a 45 also but never could find one that felt good in my hand and just didn't like it. I like the 45 caliber because of the stopping power.

As for training my Father started me when I was in 1st grade and he was a stickler for safety. In then past I worked with the local gun range and IRA people that do the classes for police qualifications and also for people wanting to get a carry permit. And I couldn't agree more with you about people needing to know more about firearms before using them. One example a few years ago we had a class that was set up based on the FBI night shooting. They would run the target downrange and the people had 5 seconds to look at it and then the lights went out and you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. This was the memory part, not the part where you use the small pinlight. They had to fire 5 rounds in 5 seconds. Command to Fire and a scream instantly. Stop firing, lights on and here was this guy in his 30s jumping around holding his hand. I though that maybe he had gotten his thumb or hand in the slide, but no, it was dark and to be sure he had the barrel pointed away from him he put his finger on the end of it and pulled the trigger. Only got the tip of the finger, but he failed the course. John told him that if he had his hand around the grip, and his finger on the trigger , the weapon had to be pointed away from him unless he had his hand turned back toward him. He wanted to be a deputy.

When I returned from Korea, because of my MOS and the fact they had no such stuff here, I spent my last fewmonths in the testing section for new weapons. Of course most of the ones they were trying out back then are long gone now, but I did fire about every type weapon the military had back then.

Sorry that I upset you by calling the Uzi a machine gun instead of a sub machine gun.
