T'anks, Ronnie....

....I've lost aboot 50+ lbs. since the "Rub-a-Dub" pichahs (in me Gallery)!

That's the Iao Valley "Needle", on Maui, in the background. The pic's color looks to be a little "washed out". I've got better ones in the stash. Waiting for Janie to teach me how to extract them, clean 'em up, and then post them. Meanwhile, I'll go out and restack me wood-pile!

Ar-ar-ar-ar!

:)

Freddie,

The pictures color isn't bad. It could be brought out a little better but that light misty looking background has an effect on the whole picture. Besides you show up great and that is the most important thing in the picture.

Ron

"Thing" is right.

After a slight (and hilarious) accident in a local (Cape Cod) store, a woman called me a "big Buffalo"-----kinda apt, I'd say.......ar-ar-ar-ar-ooooGAH!!!!

Buzz 01-08-2009 10:23 AM

Freddie, I hope you immediately hunkered down into charging position and pawed the ground while snorting and bellowing loudly in her general direction.

Fred Douglass 01-08-2009 10:45 AM

T'was a wee bit different, Laddie.....

...I was struggling to get some battery-pack apart (or some such idiocy) and had my beefy forefeet (hands) right under my chin (still following?). The package finally yielded, and my elbows flew apart (not actually apart---you understand) and there was this Barry Manilow type standing in line behind me (and in front of the woman who coined my new nickname).

One of my size-16 elbows (the right one) connected with his sternum and the little noodle-spined liberal sandalista went flyin' back into her. It was a series of gentle (sorta) collisions. Indirect pool shot. Nonetheless, the woman (semi-accurately) assumed from my (former) bulk and carelessness that I was, indeed, a "BIG BUFFALO". The name has stuck.

It all ended amicably with apologies all around, etc.

Similar incident: While navigating Norita(?) Airport (Japan) on the way home from a South Pacific veterans' tour, I had to lean forward to heave my godlike belly out of the way of myriad passers-by. This was back when I topped 315 lbs. The Japanese are used to overcrowded, mosh-pit locomotion. The hysterical thing was that each person I avoided thought my bobbing motion was actually a series of cursory bows----they all mumbled something polite and bowed back.

Finally, I cornered a cutie (tall one, too) who apparently thought it was just TOO amusing. She spoke flawless English and when I explained what I was doing, I swear, she almost wet herself larfin'....even got a hug. Unfortunately my flight was minutes away.......who knows? She mighta been a buffalo-chaser! Ar-ar-ar-ar-ooogah!

Nuf sed.

Oh, BTW, I'm now a svelte and sexy 255#. Probably fit in the cobra---if'n when I git her back on the tarmac!!

Freddie,

That is one nice thing about Fiberglass. With enough force it will either spread apart or crack. So just stand up in the seat and let yourself flop down. Getting out may be the exciting part.

Fred Douglass 01-08-2009 01:22 PM

Hell, yes! Hysterical!

Actually, accuracy during this (your recommended) maneuver may be key.......the Tremec has this little stubby gearshift-----vertical, unlike the slanted/canted Shelby one.......h-m-m-m-m-m.

Actually, it was my midships "anti-torpedo bulge" (a la 1908-1935 battleships) which was the problem. The stern area was/is deceptively small (waist 38-40*). Now, however the bulge is greatly diminished and/or centered longitudinally amidships---along the keel---I think everything is going to be hunky-dory......

*Wifey t'inks I should model NAF ("No-Ass Fashions")-------talk aboot "saggin' 'em"!!!! The cargo shorts go toward Mexico whenever I motivate hurriedly..........

 Freddie,

We had a guy come up here from the Bay Area to have a car made and he weighed 350 pounds at the time. They made some modifications to the tranny tunnel and seat and floor pans and he was able to get in and out pretty easily. Of course that bench seat in the Cobra looked a little odd at first. :D

Of course since you are so much into sailing, you could replace the tires with pontoons and put a sail on it. That should get you some looks as you go sailing out of the harbor.

Hi Wayne,
We never used that iceboat, it was huge and ungainly. Steve took it home when they bought a new house in NH.
But I did try a homemade sail iceboat once(not a fixed wing one, but one that looks sort of like a windsurfer), and I couldnt stop the darn thing nor turn very well, and I ended up about 15 feet in the woods at the edge of the pond with a pretty good bump on my head. So that was the end of iceboating for me.
Freddie's friend Henry Spencer had a really nicely made iceboat and used to get up to probably 40 MPH here on the bay if the saltwater ice had a smooth lens of fresh water ice on it from rain.
I sat in my truck and watched.

I forgot to mention that some of the Hawaii photos were hazy from the atmosphere, so I did Photoshop them a bit. I need to spend a bit more time on them to lessen the washed out appearance.
But all in all, Freddie is a heck of a good photographer, and his pix need less correcting than mine do. I enjoy using Photoshop, isnt it fun what you can do with photos, either for correction or just plain fun. And manipulating them too, put politicians heads onto our pets and more. (I have some whacky ones Ive made).
