Tried to reply yesterday afternoon, but had a server issue, so here I go again.
Hi Fred! My father served on a Destroyer during WWII, and sometimes talks about how he and his mates would throw tomato's and/or potato's at Zero's as they flew by, being chased by either an F6 or F4U! All of my family that served during WWII were either Navy or Army, except Uncle Joe, he was a bombardier in a B29. 
As far as the original thread goes, I say the earth is going through one its normal cycles.
Yes Wayne, there are too many people on this planet, at least in my neighborhood!
