Exclamation Freddie's South Pacific Tour

I now have the Album with Freddie's south Pacific Tour loaded in my gallery for anyone to look at. Some great pictures and Freddie I need you to look at them and tell me which ones need the Captions changed to tell just where and what they are.

Perry,

I wish I were there too. Looks nice and peaceful and warm doesn't it. Maybe Warren can look at the pictures and then his snow outside and dream.

Beautiful!! With four inches of snow/ice on the way, the South Pacific looks way more inviting!

Thumbs up Well........

..I plugged in some information as "comments" on each of the photos you posted.

I din't know if that was the right way, but they're there! There are actually HUNDREDS of shots I need to download and/or scan in (the non-digital types). I have to dig-dig-dig, but I have photos of tanks, aircraft, ships and wilderness, as well as gun-emplacements, Japanese barges, bunkers, etc.----all unspoiled! They're just "there" on the beaches, in caves, in the jungle and in the shallows!

Anyway, thanks, Ron (and Janie!)-----if there's any interest on CC, I'll try and shove in some more photos. This trip (2006) was certainly one of the most memorable in my brief and inglorious life, I'll tell ya! The WHOLE Solomons area is unspoiled by tourism/hotels/golf, etc. A lot of the coastline shots show you the the area is largely UNOCCUPIED!!!! At one point, we steamed past Tetipari Island (south across Blanche Channel from New Georgia) and looked at 25+ miles of totally wild, coconut-palm shaded BEACH. Nobody there!

I'd go back there at the drop of a hat!

Be fun to hook up as a crew on a catamaran and dip in and out of the islands and reefs all the way from Vanuatu to Rabaul. That's 2050+ miles and would take weeks, but a "cat" could make it tolerable. The Melanesian people are just the best!!!

Freddie,

I have the first album from Hawaii ready to put into my gallery but some of the pictures I am not sure of just what or where they are. I will get the 2nd album ready by Wednesday I hope.
I don't know about the rest but I would love to see all of those pictures that you have of the old Jap gun emplacements. Who knows. you may even have some of the ones that I managed to see while I was in that area. Lots of old coastal guns and tanks and other equipment still rusting away in the water at the edge of the beaches too.

Your comments are great and you can do the same for the Hawaii ones if you would be so kind.

Ron

Looking forward to seeing those Solomon Isle pics. They will be on my way to the Philippines from Floriduh. I love the idea of deserted beaches, and all the history that goes with the equipment left behind......i2f
