I am pro choice...
I am pro choice
I believe that you have the choice to have sex I believe that you have the choice to use contraceptives and have the responsibility to learn how to use them. I believe that you have the choice to remove yourself from situations that could inhibit your responsible actions. I believe that you have the choice if you are other than a minor to report all instances of incest or rape. I believe that you have the choice to have sex as much or as often as any other responsible person may have. I believe that if you have chosen your acts of sexuality in a responsible manner and have become or caused a pregnancy . That was God’s choice. Scott S |
Man! You are in RARE form these days!

Ah!!! I understand!
For me it ends up as drinking and posting (PUI.) But I decided to stop that when I would wake up the next day and find a rash of PMs (many not so nice:LOL:) and Jamo closed threads. Actually, the last time I went through that was when Kerry was running for Prez. Given our last outcome, I am rather proud of my ability to keep it at bay. Anyways, ows the lumber business? Do you ever deal in "instrument" quality wood? (spruces) Mike |

I hate spruce... the tough limbs, the scaly bark, the wet coast where they grow.... Spruce cause me nothing but trouble. Good thing I have chosen a life of aborting immature Old Growth Fir. In Oregon we have a law that a person can chose on their own behalf to euthanize(a really, really late term abortion) themselves. Why is so many here get so pissed when I cut a tree down? Scott S |

Too many trees just end up blocking the sunshine. I like being able to see the sun to tell time by. Cut those suckers down.:) |

I would love to have a thoughtful discussion on my outline, I think if a new movement is to started it should be based on responsibility on all personal actions. No more should any make excuses based on race, heritage, income, education, or gender. We all make choices every day, rarely do I blame my misfortunes on anybody but myself. How about you? Scott S |

Now do you have spar enough to anwser my question? Scott S |
Yes, YES! Pro choice on your terms. Now, PLZ go cut me a red spruce and mail it to me (COD)

Model or Cubby? Not following... iffin you don't mind, plz don't bogart the Yeagermister

Why do you need the spruce? I was a RC flyer for awhile and used some spruce. I also began the construction off a Cubby(kinda of like a J-3 Cub) but moved on to other interests. As far as Yagermister goes I live next to the town that has the biggest Oktoberfest in Oregon. I spent a couple of years in Germany at his majesties(Pres. Carter) service imbibing on a more than a few dozen liters of the stuff. Now the only claim I have on it is cough syrup.....I have colds often:D Scott S Scott S |

Scott,
I take your use of the phrase "pro choice" and your reference to God's role in pregnancy to mean you are in favor of laws prohibiting abortion based on your religious beliefs. If my assumption is wrong, please disregard everything that follows. If you believe in God and you believe God says abortion is wrong, there are no words I can say to sway you. It would be pointless to try. But I will try to sway your thinking about whether human laws should be used to force people of other beliefs to conform with the religious beliefs of the majority. Imagine for a moment that Amish people had grown to be a majority of the population in the USA and had used their political power to persuade government to pass laws requiring all to forgo modern conveniences such as automobiles. I'm sure they could come up with rational explanations to disguise the religious basis for their position (e.g., look at how much we save on road construction costs), but would you like it? I wouldn't. And being in the minority now, I don't like putting up with laws based predominantly on the religious beliefs of the majority (e.g., Blue Laws prohibiting alcohol sales on Sunday). So I ask that those of strong religious beliefs do this. Live your own life the best you can and do everything within your own family the way your God directs. But, as this is the USA, please let me and my family live our lives the way we wish. If there is a God to greet you in the afterlife, I suspect he'll be quite pleased with your actions. |
Hey!, you guys protesting in Tommys front yard, lay off. Your killing his grass.

Tommy,
Actually I think your post was well written. Abortion is one of those things that all are never going to agree on and so is religion and politics. We are fortunate that in this country, at least for now until Princess Pelosi gets her way, we can all believe or say what we feel. I agree with Scott about most of his post, especially the parts abut people taking responsibility for their actions. And like most people, I gripe and complain about the Govt. and everything else that I don't like, but we still have the greatest country in the world for now. Ron :) |
Yeah!, I wish 'not to have my taxes pay for abortion'. well..screw me....
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will issue an order restoring U.S. funding for international family-planning groups involved with abortion |
OBAMA WON!!! GET OVER IT!!! jeezis...:D:D:D
Now back to the question... So...are you saying that abortion is ok if people pay for it themselves? There is a lot more common ground between rational pro-choicers and rational pro-lifers than many realize. People who desperately cling to their beliefs without ever thinking them through are $hit-terrified of debate and simply repeat well worn slogans over and over when confronted with new ideas or opposing views. The emotional "pick your side and slug it out" polarization on hot politico-socio-moral issues tends to preclude cooperation on establishing workable solutions. Examples of common ground: No rational person believes abortion should be used as a form of birth control. No rational person believes a mother whose child has no chance of survival should be forced to give birth only to watch her baby suffer for a few hours and die in the delivery room. No rational person believes teenage or underage pregnancy is a good thing. No rational person believes wanton sexual promiscuity and irresponsibility is ok. Most rational people want less government intrusion and control over their lives. Most rational people would agree that society needs more focus on preventing unwanted and underage pregnancies. And most rational people would agree that it is better to help women want the babies they might have than to force them to have babies they do not want. I personally feel that there are situations when abortion is a sad but preferable choice and there are times when it is simply wrong. Only the coming together of rational minds will be able to find a way to translate that into a palatable and just set of policies. You asked...:) |
Obama has nothing to do with the discussion...
I understand your points, can we agree then what society needs most are rational individuals committed to holding themselves responsible for all personal actions? Would society as this time label those individuals as extremists? Scott S |
