After reading the list, do you feel stimulated?

cobra bill 02-05-2009 10:13 AM

Well that's a fine list, and so let me see. your problem with it, is it will go to hire people to do all those projects? How could we? this money should be going to bail out the fat cats that got us into this mess in the first place! You know when government bailout money starts to reach the people that are effected most by all of this mess, that's where I draw the line, Damn you Barrack Obama for thinking of the working class!!!!!

cobra de capell 02-05-2009 10:32 AM

Geez, always posting the liberal point of view - do you have a direct line to BO?

Let's just take the first one "$50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts" How does that create jobs for the working class? .

vector1 02-05-2009 10:49 AM

in an interview on tv bo said the add-ons amounted to approx 1% of the package?

Ron61 02-05-2009 10:52 AM

If Al Gore is to be believed why do we need to waste all that money for this? #31 $87 million for a polar icebreaking ship - Hmmm.....now that will create a lot of jobs (/s)

Wait a year or so and the ice will melt. Gore has said so therefore it has to be so. Now that is definitely thinking of the poor working people.

#9 is non other than 'ACORN', IOW, 4.2 bil. to register illegals and promote liberalism.

It appears to me that this is more of a work bill instead of a job bill ... and there is a difference . Raking leaves is work , but isn`t a permanent job . What I see is a lot of works projects , but very little that creates/stimulate new Job growth ... which is essential to turning things around .
Looks like to me that a lot of those projects will be a massive drain on the economy in the future .
For example , I fail to see how increasing Pell grants creates jobs ... it creates ( hopefully ) graduates who need jobs . Construction jobs ? They vanish after the project is over. Sorry , this just appears to be all smoke and mirrors to me .

Right on the money - basically, a stimulus is something that puts millions of people back to work and adds volume to those who are still working so that more people need to be hired. Therefore, tax cuts all around - especially for business - also, capital gains - eliminate the tax for 1-2 years.

Basically the current version of the stimulus bill is a 'projects' bill with a political slant. Not much work involved just a lot of payback to those that supported the Democrat party. Of course, over time 'projects' will start and provide work for some but not in the millions as projected and not within the next year or so.

If this bill passes, BO will sink in 18 months and end up a one term President - actually, not a bad goal - but, America will also suffer - so, kill the bill as written.

427 S/O 02-05-2009 02:42 PM

There is currently a 'fall back' bill for 174 bil..... 100 bil. in tax breaks and 74 bil. in infrastructure. Rasmussen poll has the 900 bil. -/+, at more than 50% against. We'll see?.

Fred Douglass 02-06-2009 07:26 PM

Just....UNBELIEVABLE......

....that arrogant fraud, Obama yesterday mocked people who were criticizing the colossal spending and "pork" in this so-called "Stimulus Bill". Apparently someone asked him why the bill was so full of spending, etc. and Our Great Leader sneeringly said (words to the effect):
"It's a STIMULUS bill-----stimulus bills are SPENDING bills!"

Well, no O-Genius----the ONLY goddamned thing which has worked (at least four times this century) is CUTTING TAXES! That's right----cutting taxes stimulates. Nothing else has seemed to work. Check out Morganthau's lamentation about the "New Deal". He yammered something about all FDR's (and his) measures MADE THINGS WORSE!

You cut taxes (on individuals AND corporations) and PRESTO! jobs suddenly increase, as does income, as does money coming in to the Fed/Gov! Duh!

Maybe Wonderboy should have read some history instead of all those law-books.

Methinks the "honeymoon" is over!

Chow,

427 S/O 02-07-2009 03:59 AM

.........Methinks the "honeymoon" is over!......You thinks right Freddie, Looks like they passed the 'monster spending' last night. Not only will it 'not' work, just wait for the fraud, which will happen. I'm disgusted..........

TButtrick 02-07-2009 06:35 AM

I've never read so many opposing theories on any given subject than whether tax cuts would stimulate an economy. The last big tax cut I remember was in 2001 to the tune of $1.3T dollars. The GDP, income and jobs stayed way below average as a result.

You're right. It was $1.35T not $1.3T

...and here is a perspective on how well those tax cuts worked.

The sad part of this is......

....it's only a bare simple* majority of the sheeple who want to live off the other half. In fact, some of the the former are so stooooooopid (and resultingly ignorant) they don't know where the FedGov gets all this money! Mana from Heaven, me arse!!!!

Gibbon's "Decline and Fall of the Roamin'** Empire" pointed out that eventually, half the Romans were working to support the other half. Some earlier genius (I think it was Aristotle) predicted that once the lower classes were given the vote, they'd use it to rob the upper classes. This Dumbocrat monstrosity is being pushed hard (like a car-sales huckster's "Hurry up! This car won't be on the lot tomorrow!") by essentially 30% or so of the electorate and their reps. It will "Europeanize" (and therefore destroy) what's left of freedom in this country. Remember "freedom" nowadays is equal to your own money.

Wait 'til the Obamistas sober up in the morning!!!! Ar-ar-ar-ar. "YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY! We Won...(pause)...HUH? WHA' HAPPENED?" Of course, they'll blame it on Bush. After all, the daily weather's imperfections and all known diseases are his fault...........ar-ar-ar!

Meanwhile, legions of sloths are piling into the wagon.....

Pity the poor post-Boomers. Pity their great-grandchildren (even if they aren't around yet!).

*pun intended
