Oh!, MS said.....Most worrisome is the fact that it doesn't do much — yet. Experts fear it's just waiting for a command to turn all infected machines into a superpowerful "botnet" of zombie PCs that could be used to take down commercial, military or governmental Web sites.

I have had a couple of the Malicious Removal tool downloads in the past month. And I run manual scans on my computer with four different programs and so far I haven't picked anything up. Lucky I guess, plus I am careful about any sites that I visit.

Ron, they said it docent do much, and they fear it's waiting on a command.....

Perry,
I read about that a week or so ago and that one of the worst ways it can be spread is people taking work home or to other places on flash drives. Since the satellites are crashing into each other, maybe all of the computers will just stop.

Does this thing target individual machines like mine or just servers?
Also, while I'm asking, my DSL box bangs away most of the time now when I'm on line. It never used to do that. Is there some way I can find out what it's doing and who it's doing it with? I'm running Vista and recently kicked out Norton AV (too pushy) and replaced it with AVG freeware. Thanks.

MS didn't distinguish between commercial and home use, they just recommended downloading the patch. I had to uninstall AVG, it made my puter creep along. I chose 'advance systemcare' instead.
