Putin warns US to eschew socialism

What is the world coming to? Pat Dollard reports the Russian leader warned the US against adopting socialism because it doesn't work:
Russian Prime Minister Vladamir Putin has said the US should take a lesson from the pages of Russian history and not exercise “excessive intervention in economic activity and blind faith in the state’s omnipotence”.

“In the 20th century, the Soviet Union made the state’s role absolute,” Putin said during a speech at the opening ceremony of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “In the long run, this made the Soviet economy totally uncompetitive. This lesson cost us dearly. I am sure nobody wants to see it repeated.”[Snip.]

Sounding more like Barry Goldwater than the former head of the KGB, Putin said, “Nor should we turn a blind eye to the fact that the spirit of free enterprise, including the principle of personal responsibility of businesspeople, investors, and shareholders for their decisions, is being eroded in the last few months. There is no reason to believe that we can achieve better results by shifting responsibility onto the state.”

Putin also echoed the words of conservative maverick Ron Paul when he said, “we must assess the real situation and write off all hopeless debts and ‘bad’ assets. True, this will be an extremely painful and unpleasant process. Far from everyone can accept such measures, fearing for their capitalization, bonuses, or reputation. However, we would ‘conserve’ and prolong the crisis, unless we clean up our balance sheets.”

BEIJING, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Increased borrowing by the United States to fund its massive stimulus package could cause the depreciation of U.S. dollar-denominated assets, Chinese economists have told Xinhua.

Being the largest holder of U.S. Treasury securities, China had reason to be concerned about that possible depreciation, the economists said.

The 787 billion U.S. dollar stimulus bill, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, is designed to jolt the ailing U.S. economy by providing government spending and tax cuts for both individuals and businesses. U.S. President Barack Obama signed it into law Tuesday.

"To rescue the ailing U.S. economy by increasing government borrowing will create a record-high federal deficit," said Yu Zuyao, economist with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a government think tank.

.......what America has done to itself conforms (as someone on this site pointed out) EXACTLY to Norman Thomas' prediction that Americans "will never knowingly adopt Socialism", but will install it incrementally under the name of "Lliberalism".

In a SEEMINGLY coordinated and planned, generations-long effort, liberals have destroyed public education (see the 19th-century 8th-grade exam cited above on the CC site), erased our common historical knowledge, eliminated much of our capacity to act as individuals, discouraged free speech in an Orwellian campaign to ban "certain words" (remember, word-choice=concious thought), regulated us mercilessly, and perpetuated (encouraged, in fact) a general ignorance and fear.

Liberals are utopians. Utopians have no concept of reality (especially of human nature). Their schemes are like vampires----they cannot stand the bright sunlight of close scrutiny. When logic and courage provokes someone to stand up and shout "Fire!" (or better yet "fire 'em!"), they are attacked. Witness the plight of conservative speakers on our college campusses.

With an ignorant, myopic and fearful populace cowering at the prospect of violating some government edict, liberals feel more and more "encouraged" to usurp freedom. The masses are encouraged to see government as their protector. A people who lack even a casual knowledge of history know little of what they are missing. Similarly, they do not understand, that most human misery has historically been caused by government and ideology, over the ages.

So where does that leave the US? Simply doing EXACTLY what Putin warns against. How can ANYONE, with even a smattering of international history under his cranial belt, EVER assume that, just because utopians are enemies of individuality and just because socialism has NEVER worked anywhere or at any time it has been implemented---how can they assume that it will work here? (Einstein's famous quote is cited here also).

We are doomed, laden with an ever-more-ignorant populace, to vote ourselves into the situation of the Roman (and medieval) "clientii", grovelling at the feet of the great "patronii". For every passably-intelligent, educated individualist, there will be two self-pitying, envious goobers, expecting the Great Government to give them a larger share of
those benefits created by their more able peers.

Obama's been in orifice about a MONTH, and already that statist puke has linked up with the socialistas in Congress to MORTGAGE (microcosm/macrocosm, eh?) America's future generations FOREVER. Wait 'til our great-grandchildren write the history of the "Boomers". Boy, will they do it with love and gratitude!

As someone on this site said, "Boy are we screwed!". Only the Russians (and the Chinese) seem capable of warning us of our folly. We don't seem to have the capacity to understand it. Liberals are absolutely dependent on that incapacity in order to keep their hands on political power (which, after all is their ONLY mission).

Right on the money. Obama is in full speed ahead toward the installation of a socialist government in America with assistance from the Democrat liberals in Congress and the ignorant in America. The only opportunity to stop him will take place in 2012 when Senators and Congress types come up for re-election - if Democrat numbers do not decrease - we are really, really screwed.
