Bill, I have to agree with your position on this one. (LSpeed, no offense). I'm an old school Lawman/Sheep dog & no longer in the job due to changes/politics/BS, etc. It was my job to Judge a situation (Officer's discretion). In my book, this is what seperated the good Lawmen from the run of the mill. It's a tough job, I too carry the wounds/scars of the profession both physical & mental. They never go away.
