Club Cobra Poll, Is it Left, Middle, or Right?

The 'Progressive' Poll and the lounge in general, shows that Club Cobra skews to the right. With the political posts in the Lounge, it seems most of Club Cobra is to the right of Rush Limbaugh. Is this really the case or do most of the left sit in silence?

It makes sense to me that people who like gas-guzzling roadsters might not all have a Prius in the garage. But is that really true?

392cobra 03-14-2009 09:13 PM

With me seeing Attila as left of center,I guess I'm right of center.

Roscoe 03-15-2009 09:28 AM

My political views have not changed since the early 70's. However, back then I was just your standard Goldwater conservative. But the country has swung so far left that now I'm considered to the right of Attila.

I've never conceived of a Cobra as being.........

.......a Leftymobile. I mean, progressives/socialists/communists, etc., all seem to flaunt their "holier (and smarter) than Thou" attitudes and collectively (what else) scold us for our wantonly wasteful ways...Therefore, they and their ilk will not be happy until they've subjugated us, confiscated our weapons, money and freedoms---AND put us on (wait for it!)-----------------YOGURT-POWERED UNICYCLES (with helmets and seatbelts o'course)!

So what are pinkoes and closet totalitarians (same thing, really) doing driving around in Cobras? Well, we can all concede that there are no hypocrites like Lefties, so I suppose it makes some kind of sense (unlike most of the Lefties' vocalizations and actions)......I wonder what their pinko friends say when they tool about in a gas-gulping, pavement-ripping, sports-monster like a cobra?

I also noticed that quite a few of our resident pinkoes don't seem willing to cite the make/motor, etc. of their cobras------it may just be that they're trollers driving here and there in pinko-sticker-bedecked SAABs, Volvos and the like......

In any case, I've noticed that trying to talk sense to a Lefty is about as easy as reversing Niagara Falls with a pitch-fork! Very notable is their persistence in blaming anybody else but themselves and never failing to portray the Bushes as conservatives (NOT!).....

Sanctified fecal matter!

Paul F 03-15-2009 04:42 PM

I'm curious why we see a lot of bumper stickers for left leaning issues but rarely see bumper stickers for right leaning issues. The most you'll see from the right is a fish symbol or 'support our troops'.

Why are liberals vocal on the bumber but conservatives are not? I'm looking for serious responses.

cobra de capell 03-15-2009 05:07 PM

I would not post here, at least for long if members were primarily liberal or even mostly liberal. Actually, I don't see how a liberal can even justify owning a Cobra. Even Neutrals are pains in the butt.

In fact, I would not even own a Cobra if most owners were liberals.

427 S/O 03-15-2009 05:18 PM

Paul, traditional values have always been with us, bumper stickers not needed.

I have asked this same question. It makes no sense at all...

Roscoe 03-15-2009 06:08 PM

I've got three stickers on the back of my gas guzzling SUV:

Marine Corps
DAV Life Member
Cobra

Everyone can figure out where I stand...

Most of the cars I see with liberal bumper stickers are low end cars that the owners don't appear to take much interest in its appearance or future value. I would NEVER put a sticker on the paint of one my cars. The stickers I do have are on glass, are relatively inconspicuous and for gaining access/parking.

Sung to the tune of Elvis Presley's "In the Ghetto"

As the snow flies...

At a used car lot on the edge of town
A liberal guy and a liberal gal
Buy a Yugo
And they drive with pride

'cause if there's one thing that this world needs
It's environmental friends who'll take the lead
In a Yugo

They say, "People don't you understand?
Those Suburbans are ruining the land!"
But they'll wish they had a full-size van one day

They're pointing fingers at you and me
They say we're too blind to see
But do we simply use our heads
And choose a better way
As those small wheels turn

Fifty miles to the gallon and their knees on their chests
We're gonna save enough gas for all the rest
In a Yugo
Then one day on the interstate
They suddenly lose control
They swerve to miss a baby duck
And are squashed beneath a produce truck
But they drove with pride

And as the crowds drive past the little flat car
You know they saved a lot of gas but they didn't get far
In a Yugo
And as they're trapped inside

At a used car lot on the other side of town
A liberal guy and a liberal gal
Buy a Yugo
And they drive with pride...

I like that response. Along with that, conservatives don't want from others, especially the government. So they don't need to express change. Perhaps they also tend not to be preachy and keep to themselves.

Ok, on the smart-arse side, they have too much good sense to put glue on their car.

Fred Douglass 03-16-2009 08:48 AM

See my post above.......

....in any case, it would be fascinating to see how many of the CC pinkoes actually HAVE cobras-----check the address thingies over on the right and also the Gallery pix. I strongly suspect most of our resident cwommies are Volvoistas, Yugoistas and the like.

Chow,

Freddie,

I don't have a Cobra any more. Are you going to join the two who have expressed the views that I should be banned from the club because I don't have a car or am not in the process of building one? I would have another in a hurry if I lived in a state where it would be possible for me to register one, but I could never get one of the 500 per year numbers living up here in the Northern Wilderness. The only three people up here who ever got one went to Sacramento and spend a few days there before the 2nd so they could get in at a friendly DMV.

Ron :)

I'm thinking its an extension of their "I know best, in your face" attitude.

Fred Douglass 03-16-2009 09:06 AM

Ron, I never........

.......asked that ANYONE be banned from the club. Nor would I ever. All I said was I wondered how many of the avowedly liberal members of this club don't have cobras. Maybe I should have rephrased it-----NEVER HAD cobras.

Nonetheless, it would possibly be EVEN MORE interesting to see the number of Lefties who DO own cobras!

Keep smilin'

392cobra 03-16-2009 09:12 AM

Warren told me that he suspects Ron is a Comet driving,NRA Life Member,CHL toting,etc...well he went on & on and I lost track what all he was calling Ron.

trularin 03-16-2009 10:00 AM

Well now...this is an interesting thread.

:D

cobra de capell 03-16-2009 10:25 AM

Well, anyone interested in Cobra's - either as an owner, former owner, potential owner or even those that simply admire Cobra's make fine members. Once again, I just don't see how a true liberal can justify owning a Cobra or even be interested in Cobra's. Cobra's and muscle cars in general have got to be near the bottom of the list when it comes to liberal ownership or interest.

Ron61 03-16-2009 10:53 AM

:)

Freddie,

My post about you wanting me off the club was just a joke. Long ago shortly after I sold mine, we had two members who I haven't seen on here for a couple of years send me e-mails telling me I should not be allowed to stay on here as I had no car and wasn't in the process of getting one. One was a brand new member with 3 posts I think it was and the other hadn't been a member very long. I just deleted the e-mails from my in folder and never bothered to answer them. I do wish I had one to drive, but that is starting to look more and more like it isn't going to happen. Guess if I want to enter any car shows I will have to use the 69.
