David,

If you guys decide on Hawaii get a good wedding planner. Everything was set up through our wedding planner including licenses. All we had to do was show up and he took care of everything else. Good luck.

Zacctly what my daughter is doing right now... She's found 2 or 3 "packagaes" doing on-line searches and is in the process of contacting them for complete info... soo far, it all looks pretty good....

There are looking at a 5 to 7 night stay with a saturday evening beach wedding, sometimes in late October.........

Perfect timing on the condo sale Beans!

We were in Hawaii last December. The burgers are already at the $15 price point.

Even better: the tent communities on the beaches of Oahu are growing... a LOT!

I live on Oahu and have been to the outer islands a lot. It is pricier here
for sure but I am guessing the $15 burgers are to be found in hotels because
I haven't seen any. Kua Aina's in Haleiwa has been in business for 30+
years and you can get a 1/2 pounder avo-burger for $5. No ka oi!
The blue tents on the beaches are an on going problem - they kick them out
of one area and they slowly migrate to another. There are plenty of
beaches here and most are blue tent free. Kailua beach on Oahu is rated
in the top ten in the world almost every year along with Lanikai which is
right next door.
It isn't perfect here, but there are plenty of pluses. The politics suck but the
weather is great for someone who has too much pineapple juice in the blood.
Like anywhere else, you can focus on the positives, or be miserable.

Can we all stay at your place this fall????????;);):LOL:

Come on over - I'll be sure to set up a new blue tent for you!:LOL:

Yep, as crappy as Hawaiian politics are, at least it is still the good ol' US of A!

Very true!!!

I have friends that like to go to Mexico because it is cheap from So.Cal. but you won't catch me south of the border. I know if I am in Hawaii I still have rights, unlike a lot of non US destinations.

Precisely why we went to Hawaii rather than Mexico this time around. I have really enjoyed the times we've vacationed in Mexico but there are times that you wonder just how safe you really are (or aren't).

427sharpe 05-22-2009 07:22 AM

Go to MX 3-4 times a year. Never had any issues because I stay way from the border area. Veracruz a favorite....
Was stationed in Pearl Harbor for 2.5 years, loved it. Always a few whackos beating on the USA, just like the one we saw get elected President from Chicago (speaking of unsafe places to go). Key to safe travel = common sense, regardless of geography. I would avoid the UAE after seeing their 'tourism' tape. Don't really like the idea of a member of the royal family shoving a cattle prod up my a$$ or running me over in his Mercedes suv while the cops hold me down to be entertaining.
