Just the beginning of the Obama, Pelosi, Fienstien, Boxer socialistic state which will wind up becoming a dictatorship ran by the Great One if people don't wake up and get rid of that bunch. Don't forget the ball point pen that you carry in your shirt pocket is also a deadly weapon.

And yet more chicken-little sludge flavoured Kool-Aid from World Net Daily.

First off, this would not make any knives illegal to own - it would reclassify a single knife with assisted opening mechanism as a switchblade, and therefore make it against the law to import them from abroad or to sell them across state lines. The only knife in question is something called the VanHoy Assist. Swiss Army, Buck, and a whole slew of others would not be affected.

Second, the Feds do not have the power to ban a product - they can only limit the interstate sale of that product using the commerce clause. If it is against the law in your state to carry a switchblade it is because of your state legislature.

And finally - those of you who need to whine about this should take it up with the GOP as it was Republican Dwight D Eisenhower who signed the switchblade bill into law, NOT Obama.

Steve,

I am not whining as you so eloquently put it but am pissed off about the continual erosion of people's rights and your hero Obama is going to make Carter look like one of the best presidents ever by the time he gets total power. Don't think that because what is being done now may not affect you, that you are in some special position where you won't be affected as he gains power. I don't even carry a pocket knife and haven't for years, but I still dislike the continual Washington Gangs making every decision for me. They are supposed to represent the people not the people be in servitude to them. I haven't agreed with what most of the presidents for the past 20 years have done, but this guy scares me as I fear he will ruin this country. He spends so much time kissing up to the Muslims he doesn't have any time to see what he is doing to the country.

Ron,
Harping on someone for something that they didn't do is whining. Obama, Pelosi et al did not have anything to do with changing the status on a particular kinife. It was some low-level bureaucrat just trying to do his job. You still have a week or so to comment on it.

I am not in favour of banning switchblades. They were originally banned (before Obama was even born - but just keep blaming him) because they were being used in crimes.

I am no fan of Obama or any other politician, but blaming Obama for a 1958 law is just paranoid Kool-Aid drinking designed to rile up the right wingnuts.

Steve,

From you answer I must have succeeded in riling you up. As for the switch blades, I did not blame Obama for banning them. I know that was long before he came on the scene. As for Pelosi and her group, I detest them, always have and always will. You want to call it whining go right ahead. I am still afraid for this country and some day a lot of people are going to wake up to the fact that they have given all of their rights away and we are nothing but a 3rd rate country of servants to the Govt.

Go ahead - consider yourself challenged. You may find an instance or two where I might agree with him, but you will also find instances where I agree with McCain and Bush as well. It does not mean I am a fan.

So how long do you get until you have to change your name to Meier? 24 hours enough?

Hey Meier,
Times up. Find anything?

I saw your activity on some of the old threads yesterday afternoon.

I'm betting you are not man enough to admit that your searching turned up nothing, so as far as I am concerned your name is now Meier.

And just so you know - Hermann Goering once told the Germans that if Germany was ever bombed in WW2 that they could call him 'Meier'. Well, they did. Congrats - you are in good company...
