Obama: US Could Go Broke Unless Healthcare Is Reformed
Obama: US Could Go Broke Unless Healthcare Is Reformed
http://www.cnbc.com/id/31368988 _____ The U.S. will go broke unless medical care is taken away from the government. Free enterprise is the answer. More competition, not more government, will give us plenty of choices, high quality and lower cost. Obama's real goal is to have universal government health care, which means artificial price controls, fewer doctors and hospitals, long waits for treatment resulting in unnecessary deaths, lower quality, and lack of freedom to decide what treatment is best. Obama and his Socialist Congress want to dictate to us the medical care we are "allowed". We will be told that it's illegal to pick our own doctor or hospital, even if we can pay for it. This deprives me of my right to life and liberty. Where in the Constitution is the president or the Congress empowered to dictate my medical care? Contrary to Obama's "spin", with which he claims that failure to have more government control will bankrupt the U.S., government control is The Problem. He also declared once again that he does not favor socialized medicine and cautioned people to beware of "scare tactics and fear-mongering" by critics who make this claim. I truly wonder if this guy is psycho. He speaks out of both sides of his mouth so easily. |
So how is it any good right now, we are rated 37th just behind Costa Rica among the nations in healthcare, and its averaging 22% inflation on it every year, did your salaries go up by that? Not to mention the cost of everything else, you can't tell me it doesn't work, the highest rated countries healthcare is just that! Government run. And if we are the government are you saying we are idiots, and you know something we don't? I work for the government and I'm proud of what I do and for the last 35 years have had as much pride in my work as anyone would, and personally I think the US Post Office does one hell of a job, ware else can you send a letter any ware in the world for so little and be confident it will get there. I work for the Department of defense, and have a great pride in what we do and no one in the world is better then we are. Even if you are lucky enough to have healthcare now, if something catastrophic were to happen to you could loose your job, then you would loose your health care, then you would your home. This has happened too many times in this country, no one should profit from other people suffering, I would argue, it does not need to be in the constitution, this is a democracy, if enough people want it then we should get it! And we will stay on there asses till they do and vote out the ones that won't no matter the party!

I don't want to do this, Cobra (space cadet) Bill, but you forced me....
http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/648...ecadetbill.gif With that fact clearly established, by you, try reading non-biased material, watch a little less MSNBC, get a real job versus working for the government.... As you can see, I didn't post a picture, this is between you and me.... |
That's brilliant...call him names because he disagrees with you.
Drop the space cadet thing and be more civil |

And which Government run health care system is the BEST health care in the world? Source please. Those 2 statements are absolutely impossible to believe. My wife just got out of the hospital, 18 days, serious Gall Bladder problem causing Pancreatitis. While in, she had full torso Xrays 5 different days. The Xray bill arrived today, Our share $11.98 TOTAL. |
Hospital shares initially fell sharply but recovered some territory before the end of regular trading.
In a speech on Monday before the American Medical Association, Obama proposed eliminating another $313 billion in spending from programs such as Medicare and Medicaid to help pay for healthcare reforms that would include a public insurance plan. Obama's proposal calls for saving $110 billion by reducing annual Medicare payment adjustments to hospitals and $106 billion by reducing subsidies to hospitals that care for large numbers of uninsured patients. _____ He talks it down thus destroying it, and then steps in to fix it. Where have we seen that model before? He could fix it now, by just shutting his pie hole. |
The World Health Organization is ware the data came from.
France is number one, and as far as health care is concerned, Italy ranks No. 2 on the World Health Organization's list of top countries for quality health care services (by contrast, the U.S. only holds 37th place, despite being the highest spender). However, although medical facilities are considered to be adequate for any emergencies, many public hospitals are overcrowded and under funded. |
Cobra Bill ... First ... this is NOT a Democracy ... it is a Representative Republic and there is a tremendous difference , and you should know that.
I have had first hand experience with two people who were friends who contracted cancer ( colon and AML ) and had no health insurance . In each case they received treatment at a world class facility and no treatment was off the table .... and guess what ? In both cases , the treatment costs were written off . I also have experience with the so called world class treatment/systems in the UK and Sweden as I was a Global Accounts Manager at my last company . How does a 16 week wait to even see a Doctor in the UK sound ? How does having operations rationed or medicine denied because of bureaucracy sound ? They have had to place security guards in some of the clinics in Uppsala Sweden as the waits were so long the natives got restless . It took a friend`s father almost a year before he could get a hip replacement there . When I interviewed awhile back for a position with a company that was based out of British Columbia , they wanted to make sure any medical coverage I was given would apply to their people as what they had in Canada was a real problem . There are Doctors in Florida ( West coast ) whose practice consists of patients from Canada who come down here for service they can`t get back home .... again , first hand experience on this ! And don`t get me started on the Post Office ... just received a package from Canada that took over 3 weeks to get here . It also takes 3 days to get a letter from Augusta , GA to here ... 22 miles away ! You want the people who are running Medicare , Medicate and Social Insecurity into bankruptcy to handle our healthcare ???? |
We can drastically cut health care costs for expensive operations and lengthy hospital stays by shipping the ill over to china for treatment. They probably don't even allow malpractice lawsuits, even better for keeping the price down. The cost of the round trip coach airfare is probably a drop in the bucket compared to treatment over here. Hey we outsource everything else to the point where the cost of a 100% american sourced product or service is just really not affordable on american wages these days anyway. We need to get a mixed cost that involves a high percentage of low cost foreign labor so we can afford the price. Its probably just a matter of time before the bean counters at the insurance companies figure this out.

Well I'm sorry Bobcat but most of what you say is pure bull, no one is coming across any borders looking for healthcare here, as a matter of fact many insurance companies are sending clients over seas and pay for the airfare hospital stay and surgury because its cheaper then doing it hear. it does not have to be a government run only system, the French system is a mix of government and private insurance, what's so hard about learning from what others are doing and come up with the best system, ours is certainly not and to continue the fallacy that ours is the best keep us un-competitive in the world

ONe thing you forget Cobra Bill, in france and most other countries with FREE healthcare for all- THEY PAY over 50% of there income or MORE in income tax's PLUS value aded tax's to support this FREE healthcare. In Britian you can only get a doctors appt 48 hours ahead of time- BUT the office are booked solid for weeks-so they tell the patient--call in three weeks on a certain day they know will be 48 hours before an opening to fit in the governments mandate of 48 hours.
Be over 65-70 no cataract surgery or hip replacement- IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT- and the post office dont even get me started- those LAZY BUTT slobs who work as slow as snails. How about AMTRAC -our gov run railroad thats was suppose to be profitable 30 years ago-another gov mess. In mass. the gov mandated everyone have insurnace or pay a fine. Waits are up, doctors are leaving in record numbers-i know this for a fact- i'm in medical sales and loosing my customers as they retire early instead of taking on more patients at less pay. ONE YEAR INTO the progrm COST OVERUN 42% NAME ONE THING GOV DOES PROFITABILE joeg |
Just 1 question.. Cobra Bill, If you or a family member get sick you will?
A.) Catch a plane to France B.) Catch a bus to Costa Rica C.) Glue some milk cartons together and sail to Cuba D.) Get in your car and head to the local ER, Dr Office or Urgent Care |
Cobra Bill ... most of what I say is pure bull ??? Unlike you , I don`t just make things up . As I said , my experience is first hand . Having said that , it`s obvious you aren`t capable of discerning reality from fiction .... as I said , my " bull " is all from actual first hand experience . But , if the facts don`t fit your preconceived notions/ideas , then I guess you just try to discredit them by calling them bull .
I suppose the doctors I talked to in Fort Myers are all liars ?? I guess that the UK encouraging private clinics because the Govt, run system is so overloaded is also bull ?? New England Hospital , where I went for my replacement , has overseas patients all the time because NEB is far better than the Govt run systems in the other countries . |

I did find that the US spends about 6600 per capital per year (as of 2004) as opposed to 5300 per capita per year in the UK. I confess I didn't copy all the info in that chart, but there was no ranking of countries to be found here. Oh, yeah, here you go: http://www.who.int/whosis/whostat/2007/en/index.html This was the only place I could find anything even close to what you allege. |
Obama says we'll go broke.....
Hey, by the way......
Isn't that what all the Pol geniuses, including OB, said would happen if we didn't push thru the bailout packages? I know I'm old, and feeble-minded :), but that language sure seems familiar. And CdC's statement "I truly wonder if this guy is psycho. He speaks out of both sides of his mouth so easily" sure seems awfully true. But what do I know.....I'm not drinking the water in Washington State. |
25 minutes searching WHO. No rankings of any kind. 10's of thousands of stats, no comprehensive compiling.
Give us a LINK. But I believe this is more liberal dreaming being confused with reality. |
well here is the site that ranks all the countries, and I never said that the UK system is the way to go, they are better then we are, but I think they are only rated 30th, not very good in my opinion,
I think we can do better then that, but I hate to think we are worse! lets just look at what works and why and adopt it, the German system is private, but they seem to keep cost down and are better, all I am saying is we should not be content with ware we are. http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html |
and this is the guy who has the copyright of the web site you posted.
i am sure he is a trusted source because he is from where? greece, russia, i don't recognize the alphabet on his home page. cobra bill, wtf......i really thought you could do better than that. http://www.photius.com/photius_2006_2.jpg http://www.photius.com/ oh and by the way you can buy shoes on his site too, so you can get false propaganda and buy a pair of shoes, well i am impressed. |
The WHO report on the site listed is a lift from the Actual WHO report on Health systems reported in 2000.
5th paragraph: "The U.S. health system spends a higher portion of its gross domestic product than any other country but ranks 37 out of 191 countries according to its performance, the report finds. The United Kingdom, which spends just six percent of GDP on health services, ranks 18 th . Several small countries – San Marino, Andorra, Malta and Singapore are rated close behind second- placed Italy" http://www.who.int/whr/2000/media_ce.../en/index.html LoBelly |
cobra (space) bill
I had a doctor friend of mine go to Italy a few months ago with his wife. He was riding a bicycle, hit something fell off. He went to the emergency care facility in the town. Needed stitches (barely had the things for stiches) and an mri, they didn't have one in a town of a 100,000 people nearst one was over an hour away. I live in a small county of maybe 20,000 people and we have a hospital with an mri. So if that is your idea of no.1 health care you can keep it and I think most of us here will keep the current health care system. |
