Default Somali Pirate Show on Discovery

I watched a show(documentary) on the discovery channel last night. It gave a play by play of the hostage situation that ended in Navy seals sniping 3 of the pirates.

Quite interesting how the crew of the ship acted. Shutting down the power/lights to the ship, piloting the ship from the engine room. Sinking the Somali vessel by creating undertow currents.

The press made the captain out to be a big hero but the show portrayed the teamwork of the crew to be more heroic.

Pretty interesting.

Jams,
I watched that as well.

The plan that was in place worked well. It goes to show the outcome can be if a well thought out plan is in place.

There wasn't much information on the shot(s) but I was impressed that all three pirates hit the deck at the same time. I'll bet the Captain was happy to hear gunfire on that day!

It was interesting for sure.

Yes planning did pay off in the end!

I also can't believe how many caved into ramson demands. This just adds fuel to the fire but I guess if the shoe was on the other foot I might cave in as well.

You know, I wonder why when the airforce finds one of these pirate ships they don't just simply fly over them at about .9 mach, just off the deck. If you have ever heard that sound before, you'll know what I mean. A fighter plane in full afterburner at less than 100 feet off the ground is one of the most terrifying sounds you have ever heard. My knees buckle. Do that 4-5 times a day till they give up in tears.

Mike

Sounds good at first glance Mike, but it would be an awful shame to lose an F-18 to a lucky RPG or rifle shot from a bunch of scumbags in a half rotten boat. Me, I'm more in favour of blowing them out of the water once a positive ID is established.

I agree with that one.

Then let all the scraps wash up on shore.

If you use a big enough bomb there will be nothing to wash ashore!
