And another group of people are out of jobs if this goes through.

The Fremont Ca. plant is where Toyota and Chevrolet once talked of building a car together. It would have been called the Toylet!

There is a tremendous amount of over capacity right now. Sales for June were down a minimum of 30% for Toyota, GM, Chrysler, and Honda, down about 20% for Nissan, and 10% for Ford.

New parts are also fun. I was speaking to a limo driver (he has a Lincoln) about one of his friends that has a Caddy. He burned the wiper motor last Wednesday and there is simple none available. According to GM, there is not one wiper motor for a Caddy in Canada or the US. He is now trying to find one in a junk yard. Another Caddy limo has been in the shop for 3 weeks waiting for parts for the A/C. I guess the parts suppliers want to be sure that they are going to be paid.

It is my understanding they are holding the parts to drive up the "need" for them.

Then in-turn the need for the parts supplier goes up.

Some of the parts suppliers have gone bankrupt. I saw the other day where GM wants to buy Delphi, but how is GM which is going through bankruptcy going to buy another company that has already gone through it. I believe that Delphi was one of the large parts suppliers for GM.

I was told there are parts available, but the manufacturers are not putting them out to the market to drive up a bigger "Need" for them.

It is not just GM parts but, Toyota, as well.

Talk about something could get ugly quick. The salvage yard guys are waiting with baited breath right now. Their business has doubled in the last couple of months form people trying them as a last resort to finding parts to fix the cars.

If this is all true, we will be on bicycles before it is over.

Steve,

If that is so, they had better not hold onto them to long. With the seemingly daily changes in the laws they will not be legal in a short time. I have looked at a few bicycles and their prices around here are really high.
