Just read this and thought it has some merit.

Very interesting Ron,

Don't buy a Jeep Liberty any time soon.

Actually Steve I wasn't to surprised to see the cars they listed. Just a drive by the dealers around here that are still open will give you a pretty good idea of what is moving and what isn't.

Edit: Steve, here is a follow up to the first article.

Interesting.

I think the one with four front wheels is ugly as hell.

So do I. Wonder what the idea behind it was unless they have one heavy motor in that thing.

Notice 4 of 5 is a dodge product....

I seen the nissan Cube at the Cleveland Auto Show. What a hideous piece of junk! It's a Scion xB that looks like it was in teh sun too long and melted. Shaped like a toaster, but everything is rounded on it. I don't believe there is a single sharp edge on the entire car.

Also at the auto show, they had the smart car. One guy asked the guy "How could you make it so small and it still be safe?" the response was, "We eliminated the crumple zones!" The guy just turned and walked away. I took a few pictures of the guy taking hte hood off the car, it was attached with a tether. It was plastic, remined me of my daughters powerwheel jeep. Have to take the plastic hood off to put the battery in it.

There is a Smart dealer in Dallas who was having trouble selling because his cars were parked right next to a lot full of Suburbans and Hummers. I guess people can still put 2 and 2 together! I would not like to be in a Smart 42 that tangles with a Suburban or (God forbid) a Hummer!
That, and the fugly turds cost over $40,ooo!

I could only assume with the elimination of the crumple zones, the crash would be equivalent to taking your old tonka truck or hot wheels car and slamming it into the wall. Not much is done to the car but it's gonna bounce and fly! I pulled up next to a guy in a smart car with my F250. The cackle of the diesel right in his window. In my truck, i could hardly see him next to me. When i pull into a parking spot, I can usually tell how close I am to the car in front by stopping when I can no longer see his hood. With this car, I would just barely be able to see the back of the car over my hood. Wouldn't catch me in one! haha

Ron, good article on Americas most overpriced cars.

Here's my approach to buying a new car.
Why not buy a new car that has already lost it's value before you buy it, has a life (Obama)time warranty and just keep the pile of crap forever, while you paid a cheap price going in. Who really cares what the dam thing is worth...that is if you keep it 10 years.
It's all about how much money your going to spend over the life of the car ownership.

I recently bought a 2008 jeep Liberty limited new from the back of the lot. The car has everything on it plus the kitchen sink, gets decent mileage and best of all my wife loves it. I know it's number 3 on the list, but I knew that going into the deal and I don't care.
I got as super deal...they couldn't discount it enough to get it off the lot.

I'd rather spend large sums of money on a Cobra and not a grocery hauler.
Bill

I have two Jeep Liberties. I thought I got a great deal on both.

I suppose I should have tried for a free truck.

Hey, did you guys see that dealer in MO. that's offering a $450.00 coupon for an AK47 assult riffle, if you buy a new Dodge truck?
I wish that offer was happening here in AZ when I bought Old No.3 (Jeep Liberty) a few months ago.
I could have fired on the snakes and rabbits while standing up and shooting from my really cool "shyslider" roof opening. Just think,...... blasting across the AZ desert, firing at will and not worrying about the town posy trackin me down. God, I love AZ.

It's amazing how the left coast and east coast have given up most of their fun things to do. I guess hitting a 7-11 for a six pack is the only thing that is fun and profitable these days,
Joking!

Bill

Bill,

Actually we can still do fun things here. It is just that most of them are illegal. And around here hitting a 7 - 11 means robbing it.

Where would you use the coupon for the AK-47? I had rather he put one in each new Dodge Truck sold.

I just bought a Dodge 2500. It's an '06 so someone else paid the big money. I prefer to buy them a couple years old & then drive them to nothing is left!
