Default Help w/ Road Trip

Soooo, it looks like I will have to be taking a "required" road trip during the first week of September.

My company has a large project (construction) starting up in North Louisiana, close to Monroe, and I have a specific skill that put me on the list. I will be there for around 12 - 18 months, no cobra!!!

I will be driving from basically Seattle to Monroe and have decided to take about 6 or 7 days to make the trip and visit some areas along the way as I haven't been to most of the states between Washington and Louisiana before. My father will be coming with me as my wife is still working in Alaska temporarily (Heavy Equipment Operator ).

So, I am currently planning our route and am looking for suggestions as to where to stop, places and sites to see, and places to avoid. The trip, as a straight shot, is about 2,700 miles, basically four days (three if really motivated) straight through, so this leaves about two days to mess around. So... any ideas?

I suppose you could look at this as an adventure.

Do the google thingy and plan to stop as you see fit.

Check out the Trip Tik from AAA. You don't have to be a member to use. It's on line. If I remember correctly it plots your way and tells you about attractions in the area.

Hit a few National parks. Utah has a few... Bryce, Zion. http://www.nps.gov/index.htm

Grand Tetons are just beautiful and you can check out the little town of Jackson Hole.

Yellowstone, Rocky Mountains

Texas-- you can hit the Alamo and the river walk.

If you are a baseball fan (or even a football fan since it is sept.)try stopping at a stadium for a game. Each time I am in a new city I try to catch a game.

Colorado rockies, Texas Rangers.

I'll definitely have to check out Trip Tik. I'm debating upon Grand Canyon or Yellowstone, as I think I can only fit in one of them, but not both...

Yellowstone for sure is a must see it's awesome. There are plenty of things to see along whatever path you take and put your Cobra on a TRAILER and take it with you......rent a storage place to keep it in while you are working and drive it on the weekends.........

Check out Devil's Tower Wy. It is a cool rock formation. It was in some outer space sci-fi movie.
