Default Pocono race

Ok, as a Stewart fan, I was really annoyed by the race. How in the hell is it fair for a guy to be given 3 laps? Jimmy Johnson was 3 laps down and because nobody else was down, every caution he got a lap back. I mean that is just stupid! He didn't earn those spots! They were given to him! And most importantly, it allowed him to hang onto his 2nd place in the points standings vs dropping 2 spots to 4th!

That is why I think that stupid Lucky Dog rule should be did away with. I didn't watch to much of the race, it was just to boring, but did get to see the big wreck.

As for where they are in points, all that matters right now is to be in the top 12. So if you are 12th you get as many points to start the last 10 races as the guy in 1st place, plus 10 bonus points for each race won. I don't see what the big deal is about being 1st except you aren't likely to fall out of the top 12.

Wayne,

I wonder who wrote the script for Robby Gordon? At least he made it interesting for a few minutes.

I'm telling you guy's the fix is on Jimmy will get 4 in a row and NASCAR thinks that will solve all their problems........kill the lucky dog............shorten the big track races by 100 laps and take the gas mileage out of raceing........when there is a yellow flag stop, you come out in the same position when you went in that takes the pit crew out of the race...and let the drivers settle it on the track.......and if you wreck your car your out period, no tapeing it together so you loose parts on the track and run slower and get in the way...only just a few things I would change.......Oh and no 4 car teams.

Bob,

One more thing. Don't count the laps ran under the yellow flag. That would stop a lot of the phantom debris cautions so they can get in more commercials. The rest of your post I agree with.

I disagree with the idea of freezing the field on a caution and not letting wrecked cars back out. Some wrecked cars yes, but some are more than capable of being out there. Definitely don't count the caution laps though! Anybody else notice how the cautions were getting longer and longer towards the end of the race? I think one of the later ones was like 15 laps!!!

Freezing the field on a caution would stop some of NASCARs control of keeping Johnson and some of their other favorites from going a lap down if they have a problem. Just watch the races and when Johnson, Gordon, or some of Helton's favorite drivers are in danger of getting lapped, the mouths in the booth will say." He could sure use a caution right now," and there will be one in the next lap. They used to have good racing back in the early days and didn't have cautions and all the other crape very few laps.

Let's look at the length of the cautions. There are CAUTIONS and there are cautions. It obviously takes some time to clean up the mess after a multi-car accident. They cannot take the chance of leaving pieces of metal or debris on the track which could then cause another accident. These situations definitely require lots of time to clean up.

However, the cautions that drive me nuts are those where a piece of debris is spotted on the track which actually requires a ONE LAP CAUTION while a track worker runs out to pick it up. But no, they follow the pace car for a lap or two then pit lane is opened and everyone goes in for new tires and a tank of gas, then they go round and round several more laps while a pile of commercials are run on TV.

Please do not get me started on the stupid lucky dog rule which must be the laughing stock of every serious race series in the world.
