Also, most insurance companies will give you a nice discount if you have your homeowners policy as well as your autos with them.....

Not familar with USAA, but something just doesn't sound right with this whole deal..........I would certainly call the insurance commisioner/commision and check into this.........

Already done David. they are investigating. I also have made several more badgering calls to USAA and I am making SOME headway. I actually got a civil agent whom was willing to help, they passed me on to an underwriter that was also willing to help. After telling him my story, he advised that I need to call the special investigator that handled hte case and ask them to file an error report. If I can get her to do that, USAA will reinstate my current policy. THEN, I will really start looking into switching! Right now Allstate is saying they can't write a policy with liability. The best they can write is a PA Fair Plan which is similar to a fire policy and would cost $1300!!! She said that was based on the single claim I have which was $3636 for vinyl siding one one side of my house. Heaven forbid you have a total loss!!!!! You wouldn't be able to get insurance PERIOD!!!

Not familiar with Pa. insurance rules, I can only tell you what we have in Louisana, and I'm sure states vary quite a bit from state to state........In Louisana, one claim will not cause any problems, you must have multiple claims, as in 3 to 5 within a calendar year to be dropped and if there are homeowner claims and considered "an act of God", that basically doesn't count against you either........
They also look at your "loss ratio", which generally goes back for 48 months, it's the amount you have paid in all premiums vs. the amount you have collected in losses in the last 48 months. right now, mine is probably 5% or less, I've seen many as high as 300% and a few as high as 1500%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm very familiar with "Fair Plan" policies and they are basic dewelling coverage policies, no liablity coverage like a regular homeowner policy, but better than nothing...this is what I have on my camp.....very inexpensive compared to a homeowners policy.....

Hope you get this sorted out and taken care of...........

David

Dear fsstnotch,

I'm sorry to read about your recent experiences. I can imagine how frustrating that must be. It sounds like you have had several conversations with USAA already, but please let me know if there's anything else we can do to help. If you email us your information at socialmedia@usaa.com, I'd be happy to forward your issue to the appropriate department.

Thanks, we appreciate your business.

Sincerely,
Jeff Brody

GREAT NEWS!!!! They have reversed their decision on the claim and forwarded it to underwriting to reinstate my policy! The woman I talked to about it was very nice and understanding. Best news I've had all day!
