There is protest and then there is protest! Protest was plenty evident from the Republican side (of the isle? :) ) the day of Obama's speech. Folks waving copies of the health bill, not applauding at times, staying seated, the message was clear. The method, while distasteful to some, made the point in a reasonably civil manner.

Joe Wilson crossed a line, period. If all is fair, how about a tomato fight next, followed with a good old fashioned bar room brawl? :)

Watch a session of British Parliament sometime. They are WalWalaWalaing each other ALL the time!

Excaliber 09-11-2009 10:02 AM

Yes, they are and do, those whacky English folk! Seems to work for them, Americans have higher standards, some might say. All though the Repubs seem to be working overtime to emulate the Brits. Whats up with that? :)

tcrist 09-11-2009 10:54 AM

I am sure it was a planed protest by all Republican's but when it came down to it Joe was the only one that did it. Imagine the embarrrasment:o.:LOL::LOL: of being the only one that screamed it out.

Kind of like you and three buddies going to go streaking (this was a popular thing back in the 60's) and all of the sudden you strip down and go running and you are by yourself.:o:o:o

I see nothing wrong with wat Joe said. I believe he was right on, on that one.

Terry

Terry, if you don't see anything wrong with what Wilson did, you might want to consult the Republican party position on that, they disagree with you, profoundly.

So when the Democrats show disrespect, it's fine, but not the other way around?

And just so you know, I do not agree that he should have shouted out what he did.

Excaliber 09-11-2009 11:31 AM

HOW, WHEN and WHERE you show disrespect is the issue at hand. Some methods are not acceptable by any party or individual given the circumstances.

Jamo 09-11-2009 12:59 PM

Obviously, one would expect a discussion about respect to be...um....shall we say, respectful.

This is an exact quote of obummers words.

"There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false — the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

Since the bill makes NO provision that anyone prove their citizenship, obummers words are therefore untrue. Saying they would not apply is typical of obummers lies. There MUST be specific language preventing illegals from being part of the program or they are defacto part of the program. And the Liberal Congress absolutely WILL NOT put any provisions in the bill making it AGAINST the law for illegals to participate. Unless you would be so kind as to show where illegals are prevented from participating.

Another comment on a GLARING subterfuge of this obummer administration.

"There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false — the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

Here we are, months into this health care FIASCO. With HR3200 and its 1000 plus pages printed, and 4 OTHER "plans" being bandied about by the LIBERALS. And NOW HE is proposing???????????

As in EVERY OTHER THING this woeful administration has so far messed up. They do not yet have an actual plan for anything. Once again they are planning to have a plan. And once again, NO plan will materialize. A VERY expensive law FILLED with waste, graft, and loopholes may get passed, but no real plan will ever be followed.

That in a nutshell is the entire story of the obummer presidency. Expensive chaos!

This ASSUMES the bill passes without any other form of identification proof requirement, which will ultimately not be the case.

I have a family member that is a staff member at one of the Indiana hospitals affiliated with Indiana U. She is a left and voted for OB. Trying to get her to resend some info but the comments she made were well worth mentioning again.

She said she is so tired of seeing over crowded hospitals with illegal’s everywhere and many cannot pay!! Hospitals do not turn away people that come into for "repairs". Therefore they eat the cost or the government pays for it meaning tax payers. So they do get treated or is that not counted as healthcare. (loop hole)
That is where many have issues with this message fr OB.

When OB tells everyone they will not be covering the illegal’s that are draining this country of resources like schools, hospitals, our highways, unwed mothers etc. Come on. My wife is in education and she sees it every day. Kids are in school for few months and then gone because parents left. It happens every single day in this city (Phoenix). It is no wonder the schools have crappie scores. They can't read the questions DUH! It is all about tax dollars; FOLLOW THE MONEY...

Health care has to be fixed but stop with the bull crap! Both sides.

Government talks out of both sides of its month and has gotten much much worst over the years. IRS & INS say you cannot fire someone for bad soc sec number; AZ Law says you cannot hire anyone after July 07 without running E-Verify. It is a joke. States and Feds need to get their crap together. Kind of like Health Insurance.

Maybe Barney Frank can have a basement party and check everyone out!!!

cobra bill 09-11-2009 04:28 PM

Sounds to me like an illegal immigration problem, one for another bill, not this one.
That’s not to dismiss the fact that it is a problem, but we have had a lot of years and both parties have fail to do anything about it, because employers love cheap labor! So we pay the price for it, the key word though is WE, the tax payers.

Bobcat 09-11-2009 05:01 PM

Guys ... the bill probably won`t cover illegals . It doesn`t take affect until 2013 and by then , the Democrats and Obama will have rammed immigration "reform" through and they will all be "legal" . Therefore , he didn`t lie .

Bob

Excaliber 09-11-2009 05:17 PM

Now theres an interesting twisted look at the problem Bobcat! :)

Fitz, good points.

Ernie,
That is fine. They and you have the right to do so in our FREE country.

Terry

Excaliber 09-11-2009 07:30 PM

Now that was a civil response, thank's Terry.

tcrist 09-11-2009 09:52 PM

No problem Ernie.
