Point well taken Maricopa, they are, out there... :)

Despite what Jimmy Carter weighed in; I imagine the whole free speech will lay victim to 'newspeak' as hypocritical comparisons between Nazi's vs. free speech and using the term 'teabagger' to describe 'an older lady' are not seen as equivocally offensive.

I was referring to the ones that are *****ing and moaning how "whitey" has been holding them back, but, now that they have black president that will all change....... The African Americans that live in my neighborhood are ALL honest hard working people and friends of mine. A year or so ago, we had a black welfare family move in and the other blacks ran them out of the neighborhood within 4 months, they were trying to turn the place into a ghetto,we whites tolerated it, the blacks didn't and took action!!!!!!!!!! but that's another story...... Same goes for the black people I work with, I have nothing but respect for them or any other person trying to make a living and get ahead in this world, regardless of race/religon/sex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the ones that are able bodied and refuse to work (regardless of race/religon/sex), but always have a hand out and expect something for nothing that I don't like nor feel sorry for........ David |
A result of too many racially motivated special interest groups, all trying to justify their existence in a very changed world from the one which bore them.
|
Today, if you accuse someone of racism, chances are really good that YOU are a racist.

Funny how this is racisim (it might be, but only one man can answer that and he sure as hell isn't going to), yet Obama's remark about Boston PD...
Since there are so many ligitemate reasons to not like Obama, it's just good stratagy to come up with ill-legit reasons for his lack of acceptance. An even stronger factor would be "classisim", this is typically labled as racisim although it's certainly not. Obama is not considered a "peer" by most of Washington. Distaste in "the hood" is not racisim and is in fact, what all should strive for. I have used the "N" word myself, aimed right at these types of individuals. No regrets, pull your pants up and we'll talk about it. Carter may very well be right, but since he doesn't really know, should have kept his mouth shut. (not that that's ever stopped him before) |
Ronbo,
No need for the "i" between "s" and "m" as in nihilism. Mike |
The Boston PD comment sure lends itself to a possible black man's take on the "man". African Americans have a good reason to think the "man" is out to get them. Actually, I feel the same way, don't trust them, flat out! Apologies to any of our fine law enforcement officials visiting this thread, I'm just "keeping it real", brother. :) DWB come's to mind, "Driving While Black".
As I mentioned earlier, I thought Obama's "off the record" comment about Kayne West being a jacka$$, while also a black man, was interesting. |
A jackass is neither black nor white.

Racism begets racism. Especially when one side of the equation is "legitimized".
Mayor Nagan (sp??) of New Orleans is a very good example. Talking about make New Orleans a "chocolate city". Sorry SOB is still in office and all blame was laid on George Bush and white America. Can you imagine the outcry if ANY white mayor had talked about turning a town into a vanilla town? Like I said, racism begets racism. And until folks stop throwing the race card, racism will remain alive and well in the USA. Go ahead Mayor, make NO a chocolate city and see how tourism fairs in the future. Go ahead libs, keep calling Joe Wilson a racist. See how well your fare in the next election. |
BTW, Obama calling Kanye a jackass is no more racist than Joe Wilson calling Obama a liar (some truth there). But Obama's comment about Cambridge police is most def tinged with racism. That is a huge point.
Mike |
Might be tinged with racism, maybe, still plenty of screw's up all around in that particular application.
Zebra Jacka$$? :) |
You know, Ernie...I understand what you're saying about the Black mindset to law enforcement. Depending on the city and the department, there are other groups that feel that way...around here, Latinos make that charge.
But to me, it's a red herring. Crime rates and stats speak for themselves. I'm not saying cops are perfect...but they have the authority. I can't stand the TSA morons we all have to deal with...but that doesn't mean we get to start screaming at them or refusing to follow their orders. Well, we can...but we won't be going to where we want to go. |
Your point is not lost on me Jamo! The Proff was a full blown A Hole and I will not excuse his actions because of a possible "DWB" complex. I also think the cop over reacted, though I would have to place the bulk of the blame on the Proff.
Obama's smart remark was most unfortunate indeed, an understandable first reaction from an African American, but still not excusable. Especially given his position. Beer summit, not a bad game plan to deal with the issue. :) |
Speaking of "haole", and yes, I am aware of the term, it in itself is a bit of a racial denegration. I really do not like it. In fact, I sometimes see ahole when I see haole.
Mike |
It's all about how it's used! It's a catch all term for white folks in particular and generally not used in a deragatory way, it's just a reality check. If your a Fillipino "new comer" the haole term would be out of place, you'd be referred to as a Fillipino, or Portagee or whatever. But the term can be used in a way that ranks right up there with the N word and such use is not generally acceptable by society here.
I have found myself using it from time to time, mostly under my breath, in a less than flattering way, when expressing frustration with "new comers" driving to slow in the fast lane, during rush hour. That would be the classic rental car, (red Mustang convertible), wife has the map out in the passenger seat, kids in the back and all I want to do is get home. I'm sure we've all used various term's to describe these folks in our home town. :) |
