That is over the top. I don't like what Wilson did, but gimme a break, how that relates to race is a mystery to me.

Un-bloody-believable.

Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst last week drew new recriminations from his colleagues Tuesday, with a member of the Congressional Black Caucus suggesting that a failure to rebuke the South Carolina Republican would be tantamount to supporting the most blatant form of organized racism in American history.

What? THE most blatant form of racism in America today is black racism. Only difference is, its legal and politically correct. When will black leaders stand up and say "enough!" ? When will white leaders stand up and say "enough!"?

The fellow who said that stuff above is himself a racist. And he is inciting racism. Just like Maureen Dowd.

We used to have Black people and White people [among others].
Now we have Black people, who are allowed to play the race card any time and in any manner they wish. And formerly White people that now must be Transparent people and they are never allowed to even think of the race card.
No question that old time White Racism was WRONG! And it was grounded in ignorance, stupidity, and emotions.
Black Racism is also wrong and it is grounded in self promotion, agendas, and political schemes.

I cannot understand how someone as ignorant and inarticulate sounding as Hank Johnson could even become a congressman in the first place, and I hate to stoop low enough to dignify his nonsensical commentary by discussing it.

Having said that, with all of the polarization going on lately, there's plenty of ridiculous race card playing by the fringes of both sides of the colour spectrum.

All of this, associating Joe Wilson with racism, birthers, nazis at tea parties, etc is a well formed & executed plan to marginalize public sentiment towards conservatism.

Never mind the fact that white on black racism was primarily associated with democrats (yes, dixiecrats) but democrats none the less.

I am pleased to see conservatives taking to the streets and vociferoulsy stating their positions. Its about damn time.

This will take time, but in the end, these screwed up liberals will lose the war.

Well it's a pretty safe bet that at some point another party, Republicans I guess would be the referrence, will once again attain the highest office in the land. It always swings one way or the other, given time. The question is: How much time? When? I wouldn't want to bet on that forecast, but it will surely be at least 3 years or so.

What gets me is that the President had a black father and a white mother. The black father disappered shortly after his birth while he was raised by his white mother and grand mother (at least that is how I understand the story). I want to know how come he is considered "black"? It seems to me that all his father did was to contribute some sperm then head for the hills.

Tragically, Wayne, that is all to common within the African American community, missing Fathers. Of course it happens with any race but disproportionately with blacks. Even within the black community itself there are race divisions. Some saying this or that person isn't "black enough".

Some studies have shown that within that community those that are "less black" are actually met with some distrust, some prejudice by they're own community. Not fully accepted by those who are "more black". Some of that has to do with how well the individual accepts his own heritage. But it's an inherent problem within the community regardless of the individuals convictions.

I lost my job because of an African American in Washington D.C. Reverse discrimination without a doubt. It didn't make be bitter toward the race, but it sure was a wakeup call to the power of a racist attitude.

I experienced similiar racist attitudes when I first moved to Hawaii. Being a "haole" (foreigner) had it's downside. So I did what many haoles do here, moved to a predominately white community (often called, in fact, "little California"). I actually began to dislike that community as the years passed, it was simply "to white", to racist, in my opinion. For many years I've lived in a much more mixed part of the island and was surprised to find myself more comfortable in this environment. Race is simply not an issue in my everyday life. MUCH of that had to do with how I accepted MYSELF and less to do with the community at large.

They are using the argument that because this has never happened to a white president that it must be because he is black.

It is theoretically possible, but I think it is more likely that it has to do with the fact that it has become socially acceptable to 'win' your argument by shouting down your opponent, and that Obama is just not doing a very good job (IMHFO).

I think it had absolutely nothing to do with race. He was perfectly correct, in his own words, when he said "...I had a Town Hall moment."

He's simply a rube who forgot his manners and his own position.

He should have apologized to the House...it was its rules that were broken.
And that would have ended it.

Sadly, once the bucks started rolling in to his campaign coffers, all hope of him ever doing the right thing went out the window.

CW, when I said theoretically possible I meant that even 1 zillionth of a chance is still a chance even if the possibility of that chance is nearly pointless.
Just like some of my posts... (better get it in before you or Jamo do).

But yep on what you said.

Remind me again who the racists are.

Waters: Probe 'birthers and the teabaggers' at rallies for racist views
By Michael O'Brien - 09/16/09 12:10 PM ET
The media should investigate the racial views of conservative activists like the ones who descended on Washington last weekend, one liberal congresswoman said Wednesday.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) said that it's not enough for African-Americans to levy allegations of racism against the right-leaning protesters, and that the media must look into their views.

I suspect even a white Pres with a program similiar to Obama's would be taking some serious heat in the same way. Being black doesn't help, but I suspect it's only a small fraction of the greater picture for SOME people, not most people.

But I do agree with Walters in one way. Those that continue to use such inflamatory terms as Nazi and Communist are pretty much "out there" in the ozone. Freedom of speech and all that, OK, whatever. But WHY they are so aggressive with such terms is an interesting question.

I saw a teabagger on TV being interviewed recently, an older lady. She said quite seriously and apparently from the heart, she thinks Obama is truly out to destroy the country. I just shook my head in disbelief. Saying something like that in protest or in a flippant angry way is one thing, saying it and truly BELIEVING it is another. I think such beliefs "truly" show such a radical mindsight these people are seriously (and easily) miss led, or are simply whacko's. I think she has attended one tea party to many.

Check and see who he replaced (Cynthia McKinney). Pretty sure there's something in the water there.

Ernie did you miss 8 years of Lefty goofballs burning effigies of GW, screaming 'Bu****lerCheneyburton', talking about the end of civil rights and how elections were going to be a thing of the past? Sadly there are nuts on both sides.
