Default Ghost Stripes now equal ghost cops

Back in 1996 the governor of NY curbed the use of unmarked police cars for use in pulling over motorists due too, mainly women getting pulled over by men impersonating police officers. They've slowly figured out ways to work around that.

One of them is they stole our idea !!

This past weekend I saw what appeared to be a black sedan, not until it got closer, in the right light and from an angle did I see the words "Sheriff" on the sides and hood in a slightly different color. Of course it had lights and everything in the windows and behind the grill but very hard to detect from a distance.

They're getting tricky....

Brings up a good point,
I’ve often wondered if there are any rules (guidelines) as to how a police car can park, hide behind, etc. when stalking for evil doers with their radar guns. To my knowledge, they can not be parked on private property, but beyond that does anything go?
Perhaps someone out there has the answer.

Interesting! I drove Kentucky's Interstate hiways on a regular basis for many years. One thing I saw a lot of in Kentucky, was a state trooper in the median of an interstate hiway, radar gun in hand, parked either directly across from or very near a truck scales station. That meant it was, they would never catch a semi speeding in those locations. I often wondered exactly what their thought process was, that led to selecting where they set their speed "traps".

They can park anywhere they like, even on private property if the owner does not object. We had all types of unmarked vehicles that were able to make stops just like a marked one. This is in California BTW...
