Not only that, but he is playing politics with the General's requests.

He has no idea how bad this will turn on him.

I think he realized he's in way over his head and in Panic!
As was said wait till he's behind the big desk He'll have a different view of the world. Maybe that's why BHO is never in the White House just burning jet fuel in AF1..

I think the tide is turning.

The last guy worked long hours, rarely gave interviews.

Not sure where I heard this, but the current guy has given more interviews than Clinton & Bush combined (already!).

I enjoyed his Letterman show, it's good to see he takes the time to stay in touch with the people.

After 9 years of Afgan it's time to seriously consider just WTF we are doing there and how to go about it. I'm glad to see he's not just writing a blank check on the war. Playing politics with it? Not a chance, I do believe he is giving serious thought to the big picture.

I recently heard comments about changing the emphasis from engaging the enemy to protecting the villages and towns. Engaging the PEOPLE! Having read the "Art of War" I concur that is a solid game plan and one we have ignored for to long. It's a fundamental change in the game plan. Is it the right choice? Easy to make an instant call yea or nea based on our limited knowledge of the situation on the ground. But it's something that needs to be considered BEFORE just increasing the troop numbers because some general, ANY general, said we need it. Checks and balances, it's served our country well, I believe in it.

Playing politics is more like it. I have also read "The Art Of War" and have actually fought in a real war. He needs to take some lessons from Vietnam and listen to the Generals that are actually the experts on the subject.

My concern would be, are the GENERALS playing politics as well? Thats one of the lessons of Vietnam, the "body count" method to determine win/loss ratio!

But of course war IS a political game, no matter how you keep score, and that applies to Generals and the POTUS. You've got to win BOTH sides of the argument, at home and abroad. The question RIGHT NOW is, do the American people have the will to continue in Afgan? With more foreign countries throwing in the towel, why shouldn't WE? The war cannot be won here at home without some serious justification as to what were fighting for. Now, no matter what I think or you think were fighting for, what is the perception of the American people at large? What do THEY think? More troops, more deaths, ya gotta ask youself, is it worth it? Is there another option? I guess that's politics at play, if you want to call it that...
