MN wants to inspect and re-vin a Contemporary cobra.
Admin. Delete entry please. Mistake made.

Finally made it to the Upper Midwest Shelby SAAc meeting on Saturday. Very welcoming group. Brought a friend along who is between Mustangs to do some interpretation for me as I am basically a Corvette guy.
I am still interested in meeting with Minnesota Cobra owners to get some direction on my car. Anyone? |
Glad you could make it Tom. One of our members built his Classic Roadsters Cobra, is a member on this forum and lives in Golden Valley. I live a few blocks north of him, and I'm an ERA owner. My head is buried in the winter "sand" until spring and then my Cobra life starts up again here in MN. (:

Someone mentioned that you had a ERA. My friend Timm who came with me is talking about buying an assembled Cobra. Not sure if it will happen or not.
Thanks for the information on the club. |
If you Minnesota folks would be interested in a bit of a road trip, I would be happy to host a get-together/garage tour at my place in Sioux Falls.

of Lake Superior most of the way. There's also the opportunity for a "tunnel blast" at Silver Creek Cliff Tunnel near Two Harbors. It's over 1,300 feet long as it cuts through the solid rock hillside. The endgame would be Grand Marais. There are a few hotels in town along the water. Numerous restaurants and pubs all within walking distance. Minneapolis to Grand Marais is 265 miles or about 4-1/2 hours. It's all interstate and state highway so road conditions are very good. Two things to plan ahead on. Gas stations may not have high enough octane for some Cobra owners. Probably 91 at best. Also, The Great Lakes can make weather independent of statewide forecasts. That can mean periods of rain near Superior even on a blue sky day. Bring cockpit cover and/or temporary plastic rain car cover. Duluth is also a good stopover point on the return leg. Fitger's is a historic brewery remodeled into a hotel. Next door is The Pickwick restaurant offering great steaks and a panoramic view of the harbor. There's also a casino down the street that can be easily reached on foot. |
