Minnesota Cobra Club
Is there an active Minnesota Cobra Club?
I am in the Minneapolis metro area and interested to talk with others that share the hobby of owning and driving a Shelby Cobra. The last post on this page was from Nov. of 2015. Do Cobra owners gather for the "Back to the Fifteys" or the Car Craft show? I heard that Gopher State Timing Association still has a car show. I am just wondering what is out there. |
Simple answer-no. There is no formal club. A few of us have gathered at different times for events. We used to do No. St Paul on Friday nights and Hastings every other Saturday in the summer. We also did the Pan O prog cruise in Lakeville every July. A few owners have moved away or sold their cars so lately it is just a few outings every summer Our cars do not qualify for entry at Back to the Fifties and I personally can't get exited about what use to be Car Craft. A second group used to do Anoka on Friday's but I have not heard much lately.

Like Mike said, no Cobra Specific Clubs here in the great white north. The UMRSAAC has a few Cobra owners. I myself have sold my Cobra.

I'd love to help re-energize a local effort. I live in the Metro area and know of a couple others in the area, too. Would love to meet up at car shows, cruise ins, or drives. Let's just keep posting here what we are up to, and see if we can attract some meet ups. There are TONS of things to do all season long with our cool cars almost every day of the week if you want. Cops and Rodders show at Norm's Tire this Sunday. I may swing by, but not sure yet. Next Saturday (May 28) is a super fun annual show at TSI in Brooklyn Park I plan to go to. The following Sunday (June 5) is not to be missed by any Ford lover. UMRSAAC show at Apple Valley Ford.

There is also an "informal" group of Cobra, and other types of kit cars once in a while, called Oddfellows - which may be what may be the group NRP/MN is talking about. Nothing real regular these days, but we'll still do a cruise or "garage gathering" once in a while.
We just found a new forum site to gather, so feel free to sign up to see if anything's happening. Not much traffic, but it's the current place we're trying to use to get in touch with each other. http://oddfellows.freeforums.net/ |
I often go to the Stillwater show, now held about every other week (thanks to the Stillwater city council). I have seen a replica or two there. Busy with travel this year, so won't make it till end of June at the earliest. I will bring the Cobra at least once. Orange Pantera and others as well.
Other good show on this side of town is Wheels and Wings. Held later in the summer in Osceola. Have seen Shelbys there, and I have brought the Pantera and others. There is also a cruise-in in Henderson, MN every week. Don't know much about that - and it is about 70 miles away for me. So...plenty to do with a fun car. Just need to decide which to attend... |
Back into a Cobra (as of 11 days ago). Think I'll wander to the North St Paul show this Friday June 24. Maybe I'll meet some Cobra owners. Hope so.

Minnesota Cobra Club
I have met a few Cobra owners primarily at the Anoka Classic Car Show ( I ran it until the city got greedy)
I have a Classic Roadsters that at best has a good start on it. Any desire by anyone to meet for coffee or lunch? Please advise |

Send me a PM if you want to chat or meet. |
I'm in New Hope. I propose we meet up in the spring at one of the nice laid back shows or cruises. The monthly gathering at the AutoMotorPlex in Chanhassen is a good example.

Let's revive the thread occasionally between now and then in the event others wish to join in. |
I am open to meeting anytime sooner rather than later. Possibly for a breakfast
I am in the Anoka area but happy to drive south For those interested maybe meet at a Denny's or Perkins somewhere in the middle e.g. Hopkins Tom |
Tom,
Ever consider joining the local SAAC club? We meet regularly including Saturday morning breakfasts. I don't have much time to go to meetings but we have a great core group of people and several cobra owners. I know at least one other classic roadster owner is an officer (: |

Thanks Did not know one even existed. Like you I am not big on meetings. I will check it out though.

Tom,
The club puts on the largest Ford show in the area each June at Apple Valley Ford. We also have another charity show each August. This year the club is also co-organizing an MCA national Mustang show. First time in MN! |
Meeting on Saturday in MG
Like breakfast and like car people so planning on being there
|
I won't be there but tell them Troy sent you. Have a great time.
