Movies with real Cobras in them
found this list and added to in the movie The Killers a John Cassavates-Angie Dickinson film about a robbery at a racetrack. What makes it a kick is that the villain was played by a B-actor who everybody thought would never even get into the A-list films..but I reckon he found something else to do..Ronald Reagan. I think the Cobra is on screen for about 2 minutes. When they show it being wrecked I think they are substitute another car.
Spinout, 1966 How can you argue with Elvis racing a 1965 AC Shelby Cobra 427? The movie also features a trio of women fawning over the King, Chicago mobsters, rock ‘n’ roll, and spring break in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Gone in 60 Seconds, 2000 Nicolas Cage must steal 50 cars in one night to save his brother, a remake of the 1974 original. It all comes down to Cage finding Eleanor, a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. I think this was a replica and led to a lot of lawsuits when the widow of the original producer of the original movie asserted her right to produce cars based on the movie car. The Gumball Rally, 1966 Erwin (Cannonball) Baker managed to race across the US in 54 hours, and Hollywood was soon to follow. A 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra steals the show. They had two of them for the movie and pranged one (you can see the dent in one brief scene) Rollerball, 2002 There’s very little redeeming value to this movie, unless you count the Shelby Cobra Daytona. Supposedly, Shelby loaned one of his own cars to the movie’s producers. This might have been the one he lost when he used it for a loan and couldn't repay the loan or a later one he had built by McCluskey. Grand Prix, 1966 James Garner navigates the geo-political world of European racing. Briefly seen driving a 1966 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350H. |

Soldier in the Rain. It had Steve McQueen and Jackie Gleason as his sergeant. There was a ten second shot of a 289 Cobra with wire wheels.

The Killers, in 1964, was the first made for TV movie. It was later released in theaters because it was too violent for TV at the time. The story is based on auto racing. Max Balchowski'a famous "Old Yeller ll" is in the pits. Max was even involved making movie Bullitt with Steve McQueen.
It was the only movie that Ronald Reagan was the bad guy. The Ernest Hemingway story was second movie of The Killers. The first was in 1946 and based on boxing. |
Here are some movies and TV shows that featured original Cobras, not replicas:

Surprised no one remembered the scene, |
I believe that was a replica.

Hollywood Knights is a great movie. What else does a teenager need in a film besides nudity and fast cars? I am a 59 year old teenager myself!

Real.....Replica.....who cares. When I see a Cobra in a movie I just think "cool a Cobra" not that does not have the correct number of rivets around the hood scoop it must be a replica.
|
A " friend " of mine once saw a quality 'B ' grade porno with a Cobra in it !
Surely that was a real one ! Soul. . |
The Fugitive TV series had 3 or 4 episodes in which one of the characters drove a Cobra. 1 college professor drove a 427, the other ones all had 289's in them.
|
Even though it was a replica. But the end scene of bad boys 2 was sad. You can see the fibreglass damage.

"Need for Speed" featuring Shelby GT500 and a bunch of super cars

I remember a while back a TV show about a guy who wakes up somewhere, with complete amnesia about who he is, or where he came from. But he has an encyclopedic knowledge of everything else. He drove a Cobra that I was pretty sure was a replica.
It was "John Doe", with Dominic Purcell. It was shaping up to be a pretty fair mystery, and then it just got cancelled. |
