Good Idea to have it looked at, but ones opinions differ from person to person. I would go see the car first before you commit to the purchase. Especially if you receive a good review from a third or fourth party.
Your eyes may be different and see things you would or would not like about the car. Just be thorough you want to be happy driving it not in the garage working on it
Hope this helps

I would agree on a price and see if the seller would take the car to ERA for a final "deal inspection" ...its not that far from Brookfield

Nice. Just lookin out for you. An ERA will always get you good return as long as if the car was well maintained etc. Resale value for some reason is always pretty good with the ERA

Sure the car is OK
bikerbob 100 Bob Fit and finish on 98% of ERA cars are perfect, like the paint jobs. The only issues you will have are the drive train. You can have someone drive it, check it and still not be 100% sure of not having a problem. If this is an FE motor in the car, 90% have a small leak of oil. For checking the motor, a compression test, leak down test, and pulling rocker covers to look at rocker are about the most you can do.
Other things to check,
road test, shifting of the trans
clutch, how it feels, is it new , replaced or OEM when the car was built
rearend. heck the other hubs for end play to the wheels
greasing of universal joints.
Rearend should be quiet, do a short burnt out in water to see if the posi is working ok and not just 1 wheel spinning.
Check front end ball joints wheel bearing.
Most owners of ERA are Honest and straight about their cars. Call ERA with the build number on the car and you should be able to follow the family history back to ERA. The car is probable fine. Good luck Rick L.

The only thing I can add may not apply at all, and that is if you are particularly short, tall, fat, or have unusual features (like all your height is in your legs, or it's all in your torso, you have Fred Flintstone sized feet, etc.). If any of those things are true, then a "butt in seat" test to make sure you fit in an unseen ERA is an absolute must. If you're of "normal" size, and the guy that's checking it out is of normal size, then you can probably get away with a site unseen purchase. Most ERA guys are reasonably honest.
