SAAC 40 Noreast Convoy?

Hoping a few of us will be able to run down to this together and collect a few more along the way. August 20-22 Pocono who's in?

1985 CCX 01-08-2015 06:45 PM

I am in on this one!
Planned and rooms reserved........

Can't tow with my car so everyone better have a runner.

Mongoose930 01-08-2015 08:20 PM

I'm in. Not sure what I will be driving but I will be driving something...

Jeff - what hotel did you book?

Supercobra 01-09-2015 06:00 AM

Did they change the date? Originally it was August 13-16.

bmwdb10 01-09-2015 10:48 AM

Jeff and I spoke about the dates last night. I was told, thought, it was the 13th-15th, but the SVRA website says it is the following weekend. I am trying to make plans and free up the time as well. So if anyone can confirm.....

This is from the SAAC Newsletter that I just received:

January 2015

JANUARY NEWSLETTER

Happy New Year to our members and friends.
SAAC-40 - Pocono Raceway
We previously announced the location of SAAC-40 to be at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond PA. That still stands, but we had an offer we couldn't refuse.. The IndyCar Series folks will be having a major event on August 23rd... The Pocono INDYCAR 500.

Pocono INDYCAR 500

We had the unique opportunity to hold our event on the days leading up to the INDYCAR race. This would mean several things:

We have moved the prior-announced date to one week later - August 20-22, 2015.

SVRA has joined us to complete the race weekend with their Pocono Mountains Vintage Festival.

This creates an amazing race weekend for SAAC members. The expansive facilities at Pocono will allow us to have a great open track schedule, plenty of paddock area... and the added enjoyment of Vintage Racing with SVRA and a world class Indy Car event. Preliminary scheduling work is showing that not only will we have the sports car circuit for our open track, but also the tri-oval that the Indy cars use. People who attend SAAC-40 will have a track pass that will allow them to attend all three events...even on Sunday for the Indy 500 race.

So, adjust your calendars to August 20-22 and get ready for the 40th SAAC Convention.

That clarifies it! Thanks Kev... Time to make some plans!

davids2toys 01-10-2015 01:50 PM

I am definitely interested

mickmate 01-10-2015 07:49 PM

I got a room at the Econolodge in Stroudsburg about 1/2 hr away but the Indy guys are snapping them all up at or by the track so get on it.

mikiec 01-10-2015 09:07 PM

Mick, Your car going to be ready?

Mike

1985 CCX 01-11-2015 11:59 AM

I'm hoping to avoid putting a tow hitch on your car instead of Quick Jacks ;-)

mikiec 01-11-2015 08:21 PM

Interesting idea. How long is the drive to the SAAC event? The last SAAC event I did was SACC does Vegas in 2001.

1985 CCX 01-12-2015 10:30 AM

About 5hrs 15 minutes in a regular car. 6 in a Cobra

davids2toys 01-12-2015 06:24 PM

I will be joining you in Southbury Ct (exit 15 on I-84). It looks to be about 2:45 mins from there.

Any info on the total cost of the 3 day event?

I have been trying to explore their site. I am only seeing the 22nd and 23rd for racing. OK, so what exact nights do I need to get a hotel for? What day are we driving down? What is the pricing for the races and full access the whole time?
Thanks...Dave

1985 CCX 01-18-2015 05:31 PM

You mean track costs?
See SAAC forums for that.

Not sure it's determined yet.

Get a room ASAP!
