Question Brighter Tail and Signal lights

Doe's anyone know of any replacement bulbs for tail and turn signal lights that are brighter than the standard bulbs. With such small lights on the Cobra's it is difficult to see them in the sunlight.

Joe -

There was a good discussion with lots of ideas on this thread:

LED Lights

The "typical" LED bulbs seem to be dim, and because they don't draw as much current as regular bulbs, may require a special "variable load" signal flasher. The Halogen bulbs are brighter, but draw more current, and run hot - may require a wiring upgrade, and, in severe cases, may damage taillight lenses. Couple guys have found brighter bulbs from hot-rod wiring suppliers Ron Francis that have brighter bulbs that do not burn as hot as Halogens.

I suggest you read all of that other thread, some other guys had some creative custom LED solutions.

regards,

Jeff

Default LED Lights

Hey Joe:
Picked up a set of the LED Red 1157 bulbs.....they didn't have Amber in stock, these are available @ any Pep Boys, Advance Auto, Jegs, Summit etc. etc....Got them @ Advance Auto for $6.95 each....Most other places are $7.99 each....Take a Look....Make these in almost any style, been out for years for Imports when used in conjunction with clear taillights....seen companies making panel replacement ones for Ealy Mustangs, Bel Airs etc etc....

Happy Holidays

A street rod shop just outside Philadelphia called Ron Francis Wire Works carries a selection of replacement park - tail- stop - turn signal bulbs called "Brite Lites" for just this reason. I use them in the Lucas lamps, and they work quite well.

Ron Francis ought to be on your rolladex for electrical supplies anyway.

They sell on-line. Think the URL is wire-works.com

Hi all

I have played around with these lights on another car and the big advantage apart from the brightness is the fact that in my application I can leave these lights burning for long periods of time without running the battery down.

Cheers

Bernie

Joe G:

I received my new plates too.... "COBERA"

I was so suprised it was not taken already.

How you do you like your Venom? They look like nice cars. I visited them in Bristol and also saw the Racing Green one up at Lyme Rock in September.

Cheers,

Great plate. You beat the other ERA'ers.

My son knew what it was as soon as he read it. He hadn't seen your profile and ERA ownership.

Cheers

Bernie

Hi Bernie:
Yah, folks who read it will fall into one of two camps....

The vast majority will think that COBERA is just a bad attempt at the spelling of COBRA

The knowledgable minority will say... "Kool, And ERA Cobra!"

My other vanity plate choices were...

FOR 27
FOUR 27
and
I HISSS

COBERA was my first choice... It took just about one month from the time I sent in the application until the plates arrived. You have to wait about 2 months after your first registration to order vanity plates in CT. It takes that long for the first set of plates to make their way into the computer systems.

BTW guys in CT, Those plates mentioned above were available as of early November 2003. Here is the website to find if a Connecticut Vanity plate is available and configured "correct"....

Bernie... tell me more about your replica... I am not familair with that brand. Does it originate in Austrailia?
