Your Thoughts - Informal Saturday Meets

All,
We are looking to get everyones thoughts on organizing informal Saturday morning get togethers at our facility on Saturday mornings starting in May. So I figured the best approach would be to throw the idea out and let you all tell us what you would like, when, etc.

Basic idea would be to have a gathering at 10am or so. Then an organized drive of some type (some roads around are pretty nice) and then a lunch. Or perhaps start it off with coffee/donuts and then the drive.

If it picks up momentum we could probably start a tutorial series or something of that nature as well.

How about a Backdraft engine install build school? We could do that over a couple weekends in April as well?

Let's hear what the group thinks.

Sounds good to me, I'll bring the donuts! Can I bring my SPF?

Even though it snowed today we should still be thinking about this.

Hi Jay. Sounds like a plan.

Joe G ( finally able to get back on Cobra club after 3 months of trying)

Joe,
You have something to drive now. We need to get some legs to this idea to make it worthwhile.

Count me in.

I think it would be great to gather at Vintage and then go for a drive.

NE Gathering at Vintage

Does this gathering include non-BDR cars? Second where is Middletown CT in relation to Hartford? I would like to hit a few meetings this summer.

We are 15 minutes from Hartford on I91 (exit 21). It could be anyone with anything (Ford powered ;) ). If we can make it a reality perhaps the last weekend in May to kick it off?

Hi: On May 27th which is a Saturday, Hemmings is sponsoring MusclePalooza III at Lebanon Valley Dragway in West Lebanon, NY. The location is a couple exits off the Mass Pike after entering NY. It is before Albany. I suggest we head for West Lebanon on 5/27 and begin the Middletown meetings in June. Let me know what you think and if the rest of you are up to it we could meet at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield right off of Route 91. Also, go to www.hemmings.com Best regards, Mike

If weather looks good we may try to get a car up there for this. Would be fun to run it on the track too. Any others hitting this one?

Bob In Ct 05-21-2006 05:03 PM

I'll be racing at the other track in New York "The Glen".

We had a very small group show up yesterday (1 Cobra and several interested parties) and it reminded me that I need to offer this up again since I believe it would be worthwhile to get things of this nature rolling.

Of course when the rain hit it was nice to only have 1 Cobra (a Venom 427 in the flesh mind you) since we gave him an enclosed ride home.

I think what I will do is get a grill, stock up on some burgers and dogs and just tell everyone to swing by after 10am ... you can organize a cruise and then come back and we will have the food ready? We will be there anyway.

First event could be "I Couldn't Make it to London" - June 24th, 2006

Don 06-18-2006 10:15 AM

Jay, same time @ 10:00 on June 24th ?

Cashburn 06-18-2006 01:27 PM

Yeah, I'm open to whatever with this. It just seems like it needs a spark to get things going in the area. I drive around and spot a Cobra here and there, rarely a strong group.

Anyone driving to Heavenly Donuts tonight? Maybe I can swing over and get some ideas and interest.

Seems like I get to talk to everyone one on one at different times and you all want to get things together, I'm happy to get it started if we can.

Bob In Ct 06-18-2006 08:32 PM

Assuming no rain east of the Mississippi Saturday sounds good! What time?

Bob

Cashburn 06-23-2006 10:14 PM

We are on for 10am for anyone that shows. Weather reviews are mixed, we are taking lunch count prior to 11am.

Smoking Cobra 06-24-2006 06:14 AM

Hi Jay!

Look's like we are rained out again. This is F-- ing rediculous!!!

Joe

Cashburn 06-24-2006 06:41 AM

Radar shows it passing around 9:30. Keep an eye on it. We are there regardless (it's what we do ;) )

Smoking Cobra 06-24-2006 10:38 AM

Loo's like another rained out saturday. Soon it will be cold and snowy.

Joe
