The Bentley Family Bash July 15th (w/pics)
I would like to invite those of you who are interested to my annual Shelby picnic on July 15th starting at 11:00 AM. Rain date will be July 22nd.
The party this year will be held at Roseland Park in Woodstock, CT. Roseland Park has lots of fun stuff for the whole family. There will be swings, slides, a jungle gym, large sandbox, fishing areas, paved walking and biking areas and lots of shade. All of this overlooking a beautiful lake.
We will be cooking hotdogs and hamburgers for lunch. There is no need to bring anything except your Shelby or Cobra!
Directions to the party can be found at Mapquest.com (204 Roseland Park Rd. Woodtock, CT. 06281) or email for directions.
Please R.S.V.P by July 9th with a head count and how many cars to
860-928-1551 or email jkbentley@charter.net
If the weather is a question the morning of the party, we can be reached at 860-377-5645.
I look forward to seeing everyone there.
Jay

Am I allowed in with a camera and a tape measure or does that classify me as a public nuisance?

Just to clarify, all cobras are welcome. We have this picnic every year and it doesn't matter who made your car or when it was built. We just like to get together and have fun with them. Shelby mustangs, Boss cars, and Panteras usually show up for the fun also.
With the response so far it looks like it's going to be a big one!
Just RSVP by July 9th and let us know how many in your car.

Jay, as we come near your meet this weekend, is there anything we need to know? Any special directions of where to meet up with you once we arrive at the park? What will we be doing with the cars? Will we be taking them off the trailer, and then I assume we'll just be lining them up together for everyone to drool over in mini- car show fashion? Anything else we need to know?

We will be lining up the cars on the grass around the park. The cars wont be out of our sight. There is a place to unload the trailer when you pull into the park on the right hand side. There are about 50 cars and 100 people that have said they are coming.

I think I am going to drive the car up there from Long Island. I figure I'll take the Orient ferry over, and then it looks like maybe an hour and a half drive to Woodstock. If I wasn't taking the ferry then I'd trailer it up because it would be a WAY longer drive.

Can FPSB Cobras with perky butts come? I promise I won't be a snob just because you drive REAL Cobras.

Glad to have you. It looks like a late day or evening shower or T-storm. So the weather looks like it will be fine for the party. See you then!

Can't wait!
I will have Nick (Mickmate) as a navigator and official photoman. We will be in the company of Mike and Donna in thier 07 Shelby. Anyone else from NH or MA headed? If so, we should all meet somewhere down where Rt2 and 495 meet........
Still planning on my wife in a separate car however today's breakfast and NHIS track day may have driven away her courage?
Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hi Kristen and Jay.
Donna and I wanted to thank you again for hosting such a wonderful day filled with great people, great food, and, of course, the opportunity to see and talk about some really fantastic cars. The venue was just as wonderful for the kids who hated to leave (pretty much the same as the adults ).
Thanks again for putting on this event.
Donna & Mike.

Jay...thanks for hosting a great party. Angela & I had a wonderful time.
It was a full day for us... we left our house in the early morn to go meet with Sal (Powersurge) and Lisa. We decided to take the ferry over, since Jay's picnic was about as far into Connecticut as you could go.
Sal and I drive to Orient Point, the very eastern end of Long Island's North Fork and boarded the car ferry.
Within an hour and a half, we were in New London CT...then about an hour's ride to Woodstock. Jay had the event at a park right on a lake.
The CC crew took the best spots...
