I don't register my cars in CT because it is such a pain, I go to VT and they are happy to take my money and give me plates with minimal hassle. I have been doing this for many years and it works great for me.

Such as Bills of Sale for the engine, transmission etc., heat shields on the side pipes, accepting out of state titles/registration for transfers, new, etc.

CT issues a unique CT VIN for these vehicles, ERA would be aware of the specific steps, etc. and be able to share their recent experiences for CT transfers on pre-owned, new etc. The " Composites ", as CT refers to the kit/replicas, are exempt from emissions.

Currently, the year of registration becomes the model year of the Composite. As of Oct 1, 2009, the new regulations will become effective in that the model year will be the year the vehicle most closely resembles, not known whether the Make name will remain as Composite or ?. I am not aware if the new regulations have been finalized/published.

Yea, I've been trying to work with him and attempting to get him to dial it down, but our therapy sessions have obviously not done the job.

Have you tried electro-shock?

Yes, even at the 115KVA level. Nothing works.

No, but we may need an intervention in the future. He's taken a breather on the FFR "thing" and now has moved over to a CSX "thing." The SPF "thing" seems like a new "issue."

Well, I agree with the guy. Why can't they slant the radiator and why can't they bring the pedals up from the bottom? It's two things that jump right out at you when you look at either the front or interior of the car.

Only my HO but ERA has got to be one of the best looking Cobras out there. Love the way they look.

RodKnock 09-16-2009 10:40 AM

Every Cobra manufacturer can't be perfect. I mean, I wish the Kirkhams would use better chrome paint on the exteriors.

No really, I'm sure there are things that we would all like to be different on all our cars.

Excaliber 09-16-2009 10:45 AM

...that illusive perfection thing. :)

How diplomatic of you. I don't like the fact that you can specifically identify the car's manufacturer from 50 yards away. That's what really separates the wheat from the chaff -- whether or not you can spot a Cobra as a specific fake from 50 yards away.

Good afternoon patients,

I see from today's read, that my ass-teemed colleges, the FETARDS are standing tall and touting their ilk. But today they are showing symptoms of a new malady
ERA-tional thinking.

I do agree with the electro-shock therapy advice. Please increase the voltage. I would say 600v is a good place to start.

The DR is in….

Yes, I'm waiting for new job as Ambassador to Switzerland.

50 yards away? That's like 150 feet or a football field and a half. :p

I guess I haven't risen to the CC "Jedi level" yet.

You guys continue to amaze me with the micro-level nitpicking.

The main cross-member in the front of the engine is arguably the primary reason why the radiator is angled the way it is. I don't go sticking my head into the front ends of other Cobras that often, so I honestly don't "notice" this subtlety (although when looking at the naked Superformance frame posted above it's more readily apparent)

As for the pedals being hung versus floor mounted, I actually like it better. It gives a place to wedge my size 12's under the clutch and brake pedals when I'm cruising for distances on the freeway, creating more leg/stretch room for my 6'3" frame.

Back on topic...the ERAs are really nice cars. IF I ever swap out my SPF, it would either be in that direction or a Kirkham. Love my SPF but the bodies on the ERA and Kirkham are dimensionally closer to the real deal. That being said, most people I run into think my car is the real deal, so 99.99% of Joe Public couldn't tell the difference. And none have remarked about my wrong facing radiator (yet). ;)

At this point, 99.99% of the people don't even know that it's a Cobra, let alone the radiator is facing the wrong way.

Hey, I'm not one of the nitpickers. Don't group me in with Patrick over there.

Excaliber 09-16-2009 04:30 PM

Well Red has a point about the pedals (but not about the nit picking, heck thats what CC does best)! :)

My Excalibur pedals were top mounted and it was easy to put your foot behind the pedals on a long drive. Not all that safe, I always worried about getting my foot tangled up in an emergency situation.

But the ERA pedals, being properly placed on the bottom, is one thing I miss about the Excalibur. A little wider foot box with a dead pedal would be a nice feature.

...and that SPF radiator is just wrong I tell ya. :)

Ol' Red is blowin' smoke, Ernie. They widened the foot boxes starting with ERA #731 and here's a shot of my pedals, spaced a bit more apart than the norm. Plenty of room for my Bozo the Clown size 12EEE's plus a dead pedal. Thank you very much.:p
