New owner of Classic Roadsters

IMAR industries (Fargo, ND) announced today (July 16th, 2003) that their replica division (Classic Roadsters) was purchased by Don Scott of Minnesota Classic Motorsports (Sauk Centre, MN). IMAR will continue with it's main focus of the marine division.

The company will move to Don's Minnesota facility around August 1st, 2003.

Both companies are very excited about the sale. Tom Eide, President of IMAR stated that he can focus on the marine division knowing that Classic Roadsters will be in good hands. Don Scott agrees that this is the best thing for the business and the industry. Don has been in the replica business for over 14 years and knows the Classic line very well. He has run Minnesota Classic Motorsports with honesty and integrity, and will continue this goal with the new company.

The new company name will be Classic Roadsters II. Don will assume all backorders and open orders currently held by IMAR so no customer will be left hanging. Along with this news Don also announces Classics by Elite to be the Distributor for all Classic Roadsters II products in the USA. Classics by Elite will bring over 30 years of experience in this market. Jay Kowalik and Ed Combs, owners of Classics by Elite are very excited about the opportunity to bring a very well engineered car back to the graces it once had. A dealer network will be established and resources for phone and on-line tech support.

Classic Roadsters II sells the Classic 427, the Sebring MX, and the Badlands. Plans for additional models are in the works.

If anyone has any questions or comments please contact Don Scott @ 1-888-SC-COBRA

To get this deal done....Do you guys have the patience of Job or what??
ALL of us CR owners were wondering how long we would have to hold our breaths!!

This is great news for all CR owners, partial owners and future owners. It is also great news for the Cobra replica industry in general.

As the owner of a slowly being completed CR, I will be needing a lot more stuff - the dark cloud is lifted - and I look forward to doing business with you guys!!

Hey, I know this is a good car.....with your great team behind it, now I can proudly recommend someone actually buy one!!

No doubt a lot of us have been holding our breaths trying to get this deal done.

All I can say is ...phew! :) Now it IS time to move on! The bleeding will stop! Minor changes will be made from the engineering stand point to "real" customer sevice. "WE", Don, myself and even the new, now old guy, Jay :) know what has to be done to bring this great car line back to the forefront. It will be done.

Most of you know us. You know how dedicated we are to these cars and our cobra "family's".It WILL be done!

DV..."You aint seen nuthin' yet!

Best of Luck ! And I need Spats, mats, Bumper Hoops front and rear.new front springs, new motor, new motor mounts for 351, a pony and electric trains . How is that for an opening order?

Dirty Harry 07-17-2003 07:59 AM

Congratulations Don (and DV),

Maybe now the bad taste in my mouth for this company will go away. CR really put it to me a few years ago. I'm glad to see some real "car guys" at the helm. Having the goodwill of the customer and a reputation for integrity will re-establish this car as a realistic choice for builders. Best of luck to you!

Don,
Yehahhh!! I knew you could do it. Best of luck.

dscott 07-17-2003 08:15 AM

Thanks for all the cudo's. This started out as the deal from hell but after losing 2 investors and working with 1 very trusting banker I did the deal myself. 3 months of hard work. I will start the order and vendor process today and start filling backorders soon. I'm sure the transistion will take a good 60 to 90 days. There's lots of stuff to move, get organized, setup computers, build racks and shelving, the list goes on and on. I'm so excited I could hardly sleep last night. Now the fun begins! I'm so happy that Ed and Jay are in this with me. It allows me to work on the business end while they can work on the advertising, and sales end. This will be a great marriage between 2 great companies.

bcompy, all I can supply from your 1st order is the pony! It's real cute though!
Don, proud new owner of Classic Roadsters II

Don,

Congratulations!!!! If there is anything I can do to help (manual, web pages, anything), let me know!!!

DV... and congrats to you too!!!

(Oh, Don, did you get the stuff for the other, older, Classic cars too? Marlene, um... what were the other ones?)

dscott 07-17-2003 08:31 AM

petek, yes I did. I'm not sure how long it will be before all the models are back but I do have them. This is what I bought:

C427-Cobra replica
Sebring MX-1962 Austin Healey with flares
Saxon-original 1962 Austin Healey
Badlands-steel, military Hummer replica
Marlene-1936 500K Mercedes
Baron-500K Mercedes, 4 seater
Duke-1936 Jaguar
Duchess-1952 MGTD

All molds, fixtures, jigs, prints, patents, copyrights, trade names, customer files, inventory, etc.

Some of the molds haven't been used in years so they need some work to bring them back.
Don

Best of Luck to You. I think your approach of taking care of the customer will pay off big for Classic.

snake oil 07-17-2003 01:23 PM

Congrats

Although I have never met Don,
I hear he 's the right person to run this .

However, I do know DV and Jay, and this is one great team.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of guys!

Congratulations again, and may this be the begining of a great
venture for you all.

NOW GET BACK TO WORK !!!
