Hey Jim, let's chat there. Follow up to our last conversation. Think Harley Thunder Header design on a Cobra. Got it done, two of them, one on each side. :)

Well, thanks for thinking of us. You're welcome anytime.

Duane, I'm intrigued. Barbara and I both run Thunderheaders on the Dynas; great sounding pipes.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Thanks for making the effort, it's certainly a worthy cause.

This popped up as a memory - the year (2010) we were rained on.

Those are great pictures and so is what you do. I tried to get something like that started here a couple of years ago and no one wanted to do anything. I told them they didn't have to have a Cobra to drive but no go.

That's too bad, Ron. We got started because one of the guys had a child in pediatrics ward and wanted to do something for them. That was years ago, he moved on and others (including me took) the lead and kept it going. One of the guys is a doc at Sutter and is at the helm now. It's a great cause and a great feeling doing something like this. Maybe you can get a local car club involved (?)

Merry Christmas!

Hey Phil! I'm happy to report that the little girl who inspired this is now 12 years old and doing great. She had a second heart surgery a few years ago and that went well. And at age 9 she finally learned how to eat and got her feeding tube removed. Now she eats more than my other kids which is awesome.

I sold my Cobra years ago but I still check in here once a year to see pics of the toy run. It is so awesome that you guys have continued the tradition.

Is Maurice still in town? Don't see the Kirkham in the pics. Anyway, hope all the gang is doing well! You guys are awesome.

Hi Justin!

I was wondering if you were still following us and this great event that you created.

I am so happy to hear that your daughter is doing so well - that's great!

You don't see Maurice's Kirkham because he had some bad luck.... sad actually. He totaled it on his way to one of our Saturday events after some rain the night before. He is very lucky. Since that accident Maurice has stepped away from the Cobra group, and that's the really sad part of the story. He is a wonderful person and I (we) miss him very much.

The guy that organizes the Toy Run now bought it and plans on resurrecting it. The motor in the car is a awesome.

Take care and stay in touch!

Ouch, that had to have been a bad feeling. I hope that no one was hurt.

Yikes that looks like a hard hit. Hope everyone was ok. The guys at Kirkham can literally pound that back out and repair the aluminum so it's fixable. There's a great video of David Kirkham doing exactly that on a damaged car.

I rode shotgun in that car on a group trip to the wine country back in the day. Only took the earplugs out for a few seconds and put them right back in. Had a great time.

Hope you are well Maurice.

We have one local car club here that I joined a few years ago and quit after six months. They are worse than Congress and all they do is fight with each other. And they were banned from some of the car shows because they have enough members to select the winning cars, so a week before the shows they would get together and decide which member was going to win that show. I joined it for fun and thought they may do some short runs and things like your toy drive but no way. I once made the mistake of calling a number that was on the monthly bulletin to find out about a small show at one of the malls and was really yelled at because the group in the club that was going to have it had it taken away from them by another group in the club and I told the jerk I didn't belong to any of their dam groups and the next day was when I notified them that I was quitting.

Ron & Justin

Ron,

Some Clubs are like that - too bad. To much drama and politics.

Justin,

It was a hard hit and they went across 3 or 4 lanes of the freeway with traffic without hit anyone. Maurice and his passenger walked away (very lucky).

Gaz64 12-29-2018 09:20 PM

Yes, very lucky indeed.

Cars are a lot easier to fix than humans, so main thing is everybody is ok.

Gary
